Basically what you have to do is paint the cube using 2 colors R and B :
Case 1 : 5faces R,1 face blue and vice versa : 1*2 =2
Case 2: 4 faces R, 2 faces blue and vice versa :2*2 = 4
Case 3: 3R,3B and vice versa : 4 cases

@Enigma001 Arey jab Red OR Blue hoga, tabhi to 10 aayega. Why are you multiplying 3R and 3B by 2? If it is red AND blue, tab to 8 aayega because all Red and all Blue are removed from the list.
n wats wrong with my appraoch:
u can choose any face in 6c1 way n colour it in 2c1 way
next face can be chosen in 5c1 way n colured in 2c1 way again

You generally choose or use nCr when you select r distinct things out of "n distinct things", here that is not the case.

in this there will be a lot of overlapping combinations.....take care of them.

ek doubt he..4R and 2b wala case he..usme bhai khud hi me do case banenge..jab 4 r maanlo walls pe hi ho..floor and celing pe nhi n one when they ARE MUTUALLY ADJACENT

MERE 10 AA RHE HE CUBE WALE QUES KA ANS

Just a side note, what you intended to do here, is probably the intuition for Burnside's Lemma, but there are lacuna
@Brooklyn Arey I was referring to @Enigma001 's post. He calculated 12 cases for Red OR Blue waala situation. I think it will be only 10. I recommend drawing a figure to visualize...

1. All faces red - Only 1 way of doing this
2. All faces blue - Only 1 way of doing this
3. 5 R + 1 B. Only one way of doing this. Also, since R and B can be interchanged to get 5B +1R as another case, we multiply by 2.
4. 4 R + 2 B. There are two ways of doing this: one with the blue faces opp each other and another with blue faces adjacent to each other. Again, R & B can be interchanged so multiply by 2.
5. 3R + 3B. There are two ways of doing this: In one case each red face pair shares an edge and all 3 of them share a vertex. In the other case 2 of the red faces are opposite each other and do not have any common edge. Blue will occupy all the other 3 sides in either case.
Now this case does not have to be multiplied by 2, because 3R+3B = 3B+3R and we will get the same cases.

So total is 1+1+1*2+2*2+2=10

arey jab red or blue hoga to that means you can paint the cube either by red or by blue plus the combination of both whereas red and blue matlab r and b dono hi use honge ONLY

basically maine 2 se isliye multiply kia kyunki aise cases banenge 4r 2b and 2r 4 b and so on.Kya confusion hai ismein ?
@karl The cube can be rotated. So there are only 2 cases for 3R and 3B.
@Enigma001 3R+3B = 3B + 3R, no multiplication required. 3R+3B ke 2 cases aayenge, bas. 2 se multiply karne se duplicate hoga na.

Yeah. You are right on that.

What you have considered is that the faces are different.
For ex : 5R 1B will result in only 1 case but since you have considered them as different ,answer will come out to be much more.
