Hi All,

I have got 710 (Q48,V40). I got what i was expecting in English but i quants i was expecting around 50 which will land my GMAT around 740.

I am an Indian IT male(2 years work-ex), toughest pool of India and starting with my own business. I will be applying this year. I need you advice on whether i should retake my exam?

I am aiming for Ivy Leagues and mainly Kellogg for Marketing program.

If I were in your shoes, I'd stop worrying about the GMAT and work on presenting my candidature well (and adding to it, if possible

Hey there,

Since you are applying to top tier programs and still have a number of months till the applications are due, retaking the GMAT and increasing your score is certainly advisable since, even as you mentioned, competition is stiff coming from Indian applicants.

Additionally, I agree with CrackedtheGMAT, in that your personal profile is of utmost importance, beyond your GMAT score. Considering you are coming in from a tech background, you need to find another way to stand out. Where have you made a major measurable impact in and out of your organization? Have you had the opportunity to lead others? Any extracurricular groups that you help to organize/run? You also mentioned that you started a business. This could be a great way to differentiate yourself depending on what the startup is/was, your contribution, and what you were able to accomplish running it.

Thanks a lot Admissionado for the reply. I think i get it. I will try to prepare for some more time and get a score above 760ish as score below that would not be worth retaking a GMAT. Am i correct in my thinking?

Hey there. Getting a higher score is not a bad idea. If you manage something like a 760 you're pretty much good to go and it's really not worth taking the GMAT again. However, again I just want to emphasize the importance of your personal profile and story!
