Short tricks for DI

Hi guys …sometimes while solving CAT question i find the the tedious calculation like (1.08)^5… does any body know any short trick to avoid this long calculationn and get an approximate answer?

There's only one trick for DI.Read the question first and then the answer

Correction:replace "the answer" by "the data"

@RahulPareek find 1.08^2
take the first 2 places after the decimal point and then square again
again, take the first 2 places after the decimal point and multiply by 1.08

see options for the closest value

and yes , my problem is almost solved. Thanks to Ravi handa sir.
and for your information, we can us the formula rt + t*(t-1)*t^2/2.
Let's take the same example (1.08)^5
then put r= .05 and t= 5
The exact answer is 1.469 and the calculated value from above trick is 1.464 (quite close )

the only problem with this formula is it gives bad result for bigger values of r.
