SBI PO 2014 Preparation & Discussion Thread

Attempts in yesterday's afternoon session -

English - 43

GA - 42

DI - 23

Reasoning - 38

DI was murderous. I am quite good at it, still found it very tough in given timeline. Only spent 30-35 mins on it, since solving the entire DI would have taken full 2 hours (: . Rest all was doable. Accuracy could be around 80-85 %. Lots of tricky marketing questions in GA

looking at the exam reviews..what strategy should i adopt ?i am unable to score more than 90 in mahendra st..plz help .

Someone pls give me d pdf fr bankers adda marketing capsule,i m not able to download it frm their site.

can any body share here any pdf related to GA ?

Hello puys, I hope you all are giving your SBI PO well.

I wanted a small suggestion. Actually I wanted suggestions for a book (Reasoning). It is intended for a girl with Bio background. It should cover the basics well (my main focus as she is to start her prep by her own). And it should be strictly IBPS standard, not any more, not any less. I follow M.K Pandey but I feel that'd be tough for a starter. So kindly help me out.

Thanks.

Just wanted to share my experience (Y) ..

Slot : 1430 ,15th june

I had given the exam last yr as well and I scored 46 in quant and in the same yr scored 99.33 in CAT(Quant).

The reason I am mentioning the above stats so that u get an idea on my quant knowledge.I have nt prepared much this year..Things were pretty different in today's exam ..

I took 45 mins last yr to solve almost all the 50Qs where as this yr I could solve only 29 .The calculations were too lengthy ..So wat I suggest ppl is choose your Q's wisely Especially for ppl who r pretty weak in math try to maximize ur scores in other sections as Quant would nt give u much chance to score easy marks and make sure the attempts u give r accurate enough.

Where as in the other sets I could attempt 23 reasoning (lack of practice) qs ,36 in verbal (RC's were easy but spending 10-12 mins on a passage is worth a try since it fetches u 8-9 marks )and 41 in banking GA( GK was easy ,banking and management I dont know much since I aint a PO's aspirant..So ignore the accuracy in GA section )

On the whole ,I felt it was tough ,Lack of prep might also b a major reason 😞 .

I'll b glad if some one let me know the apprx cut off so that I get an idea 😃 ..

I have given my viewpoint about the exam however if you people want I can write down a detailed version of the exam pattern I mean the type of questions and all.Just let me know if you all want.

Ye Non performing Assets ka kya mtlb hota h??koi prakash daale

Will d normalization b like CAT where accuracy matters a  lot i.e will more no of negatives reduce d score.Say if someone attempt 100 questions and does all correct and another person attempts 150 where 40 incorrect, then both their raw scores cum to 100,but will normalized scores b equal if say both their papers were same with no difference in difficulty level. Also let me know how this is done in ibps since i m new to these exams.

Eight friend Dewey, Deniyal, Denmark, Denim, Decosta, Dutch, David and Delnaaz are sitting around a circular table and all are facing towards the center but not necessarily in same order. Each of them represents eight different companies viz. Phillips, Lenovo, Sansui, Apollo, Nikon, Aiwa, Uptron and Tata. Dutch sits second to the right of representative of Aiwa. Representative of Nikon is an immediate neighbour of representative of Tata. Denmark and Decosta are immediate neighbours of each-other. Neither Denmark nor Decosta is an immediate neighbour of Deniyal or representative of Tata. Two people sit between representatives of Nikon and Deniyal. David and representative of Uptron are immediate neighbours. Only one person sits between Denmark and representative of Sansui. Delnaaz sits third to the left side of representative of Apollo and is the representative of Tata. Representative of Aiwa sits second to the left of representative of Lenovo. Representative of Phillips sits second to the right of Denim who is not the representative of Nikon. Deniyal is not the representative of Uptron. Denmark sits second to the left of Denim.Solve it and recommend easy approach .Please ,it is urgent .

Slot Afternoon

Well the time given was 1.30.I reached the venue 1 hour before the time mentioned.I never take tension before the exam.Try to keep my head cool and think of other things. Was listening to music and watching mr bean videos.. :)

And then they called for verification and it started. After getting things done we were allotted our respective computer and after a certain time we were allowed to sign in.Then we went through the instructions....after that we all had to wait for the final bell.. 😃

The message came that we all can start the exam now.So I started.I knew DI is going to be tough and it is going to take time. I have to keep my head calm(vital for exams like this level). So started with reasoning.

Reasoning:Started with questions like what could be the possible reason...strengthening weakening possible cause type of questions. After that came puzzles I skipped after having a look thinking I will do them later. Verbal reasoning questions were there.Syllogisms and inequality -easy.Then ds and it was not straightforward it took time and were like short puzzles.I though of completing the section in 35-40 minutes.I came to the puzzle and started doing but was getting stuck so left. Realised that time has finished so moved to the DI part.

DI-As suggested by the people started looking for easy ones. And after like 6-8 minutes I found hardly there is any easy one.Pie charts dual diagrams, figures starting form 43% 66% to options like 44 1/3,45 2/3 all were there to make you feel nervous.Found some easy graphs but a closer look into the blurred graphs told me the values were like 19,17,14 and options close.Problem big problem.Stared doing a stack graph. After a glance at the time realised i have 60 minutees more and by then in di did only 4 questions.Though it is gone now.But then my mom's face came to my mind and though what am I going to say her after the exam that I gave up just like that.No I can't.So I put my eyes closer to the computer and tried my best to solicit the values of the variables. My eyes were hurting I have some eye problem but I had no option.Did that graph. Some questions tried doing but left halfway when realised that like for a single question I had to calculate like 125*68,373*78 and two more other like this and that too it is the initial step.Felt I should leave. It sounds doable now but at that point I lost my nerve. So started finding easy ones and god helped me started doing a piechart. Pie chart with a table. Bas I had more 35 minutes. It is time to do the rest.

English-Easiest section I felt.Did one rc.Two rc s were there.Fill in the blanks, parajumble and synonym antonym type questions.Spent 20 minutes and then moved to gk.

Gk-Finally... 😛 Everyone said gk is easy but wait what is this-This was my first reaction.Ba no way nothing from capsule. No slr micr but some banking questions I have never heard. Some twisted marketing questions were all over which took time.Computer was very easy like in CPU what do you mean by C,letter writing is similar to and all those.Gk current not too much. But some were very simple like TRAI full form. But yes doable.

Total attempts-117-118 (forgot was not in a mood to see)

DI-15

Reasoning-30/31.

English -33

Gk-39

After it came the descriptive part.

Was exhausted by then but descriptive is something I never felt nervous about. Atleast you can always write something. After sometime they distributed the question-paper.And after the bell we started doing it.

Will upload the descriptive part soon.Sorry if there is any typo.Typed in a hurry. 😃
