I had applied for Consulting Management.
I will complete 5 years in IT industry by the time of joining the course.
Have around 3.5 years experience in a customer facing/International role as BI Consultant.
Few extra curricular/additional initiative with in the organisation.
Some work for charity in India and UK.
Interview was general nothing hi-fi!
Why MBA ?

Few questions on hobbies & interests mentioned in the application.
Once anyone is shortlisted, then they have to write 2 essays and work on 1 case study. There was no GD for me, i think they have removed GD these days, not sure though.
And then finally there will be the interview.

Even I am a deferred student. I will be going for Marketing Management. Lately I got to know that there is an increse in the fees
, and the deferred students will be given a rebate of 1000$ if we pay on time 
. I wanted to ask....do i need to pay the entire amount and then expect a refund, or do i have to deduct 1000 $ from the remaining and pay the rest?Gagan

Hi Gagan,
I guess you had raised similar query on the Official Admission query thread and our google group as well. And I guess you got your answer there !
Just to re-iterate the official answer which I also got from SPJCM is that we need to pay the full fee by the time mentioned and then 1000$ will be adjusted/refunded.

Hi Sasi,
If you will look at eligiblity criteria on SPJCM website , it says that minimum GMAT score which they accept is 650. So anything above 650 should be fine.
But there are many other things which are far more important then your GMAT score. Your relevant work experience and how well you justify yourself for that specialization.
Highlight all those aspects on your application and be prepared to answer why Marketing after coming from IT background.
Please go through SPJCM website and other threads mentioned in the first post, you will get a better picture of the whole process.
GMAT is not the only deciding factor for securing an admit.

I am a Mech Engg (1st div). 10th & 12th- Distinction.
My extra curriculars are pretty decent:
Played basketball till National trials level. Played @ state level
Lead guitarist in college/office band
Tabla: In Visharad stage now(6th exam)
Swimming: Won at vidarbha level & many in competitions at district level
Received awards from my employer for contribution in project work; also recommendation from AVP of my previous employer.
After group interview I was selected for Director's interview for PGCIM course of SPJAIN but dint plan to take it later (SPJ + IEGES France); so din't appear
I have applied for Welingkar's 2 yrs PGDM prog in Mumbai and pretty much expecting a convert.
I always scanned SPJ's GMBA Dubai/Singapore pages and always found them attractive by their course structure and placements.
What do you suggest for me?

Minimum CAT score as mentioned on the website is 80 %ile, so with 89 %ile you are definitely fine, and considering your profile I feel you have a very good chance of getting a call.
Rest depends on which specialization you opt and how you sell yourself for that specialization.
If you are having 2nd thoughts, then you should definitely apply early and then if you get an admit offer then take an appropriate decision.
Considering the fact that admission is on a rolling basis, I would advise you to apply early.
And if you want to make a strong application then take SPJAT which will be conducted soon and see if you can go beyond 89%ile there.

You cover all the eligibility criteria mentioned on SPJCM website, so I don't see any reason for you not getting a call.
As for Investment Banking or ITM, you need to justify that in your interview.
There have been students who have moved from IT background to Investment Banking/Marketing etc, so it's not that they don't select students who don't have such backgrounds.
They will judge you in the interview, how much you know about the specialization and what you want to do post MBA. So prepare yourself for such questions.
Go through previous year threads and see what kind of questions were asked from Investment Banking applicants and also try contacting anyone from previous batch and get first hand info.
