Can anyone give more information about the sabbatical period offered in rbi. when is it given?. and which all universities the officers go to during this time - also how is the internal selection done?

finally I bought Indian Economy:Dutt and Sundaram.
Can someone please let me know which all chapters needs to be completed as a part of mains preparation OR
Do we need to go through the complete book ?

Can any one let me know which book to prefer from the above two ?
Also if Dutt and Sundaram is followed, then do we have to complete full book or some selected sections ?
