RBI Exams Preparation Resources

where to get coaching for RBI in delhi.....which all good coaching institutes r there???

go for mahindra's its quite well known for banking exams

Which are the recommended books forPhase I (Objective Type Test) ?

As per the ad it will consist of
i) General Awareness ii) English Language iii) Quantitative Aptitude and iv) Reasoning.

Is it possible to get some last paper questions for preparing?

As regards the queries of fellow puys regarding the preparation for Phase I, here is my cent to the thread...
Start by going through few of the previous years RBI Phase I papers to get a basic idea about the pattern and overall difficulty level (don't solve more than one of the previous year papers as these precious ones are very few and would be helpful in gauging and fine tuning your preparation at later stages). Get a standard textbook to brush up the basic concepts of mathematics (CBSE mathematics books are really helpful), English, DI and Reasoning. I am not in a position to tell you the names of other textbooks because I studied from CAT material published by various coaching institute. If you choose to follow the same, one piece of advise would be to not to dig deep into these books because CAT is far more difficult than RBI paper. Alongside, you may get a book containing previous years papers of other PSU Banks and solve few current papers (at least 5) in actual time limits and understand the solutions well (don't worry if you do not understand some particular type of questions because you eventually will, with some help and more practice). This will be helpful because the basic pattern of other PSU Banks paper and RBI is almost same but the difficulty level is higher in RBI. However, you will have a good practice of the basics and get hang of things. After this diagnose your weak areas and try to overcome them by attempting similar questions in other previous years papers (you will find plenty of them in previous years papers of other PSU Banks).
The biggest differentiators of RBI from other PSU Bank papers are Reasoning and GK sections. They are definitely tougher and the type of questions are also somewhat different. As regards GK section, you may stick to a few magazines, a general and financial newspaper(at least the front and the editorial page, as this will also prepare you for the Phase II and interviews apart from Phase I). I would suggest Civil Services Chronicle for the quality of articles, concise presentation of current affairs and review tests. Again, the articles might not be of great help for Phase I but will be very useful in Phase II and interviews. Apart from this you may also read Banking Services Chronicle for enhanced grasp on current affairs (and subject matter by solving latest test papers, of other banks, contained in it). Puys who are not conversant with economic & financial terms may try to learn them as and when they across them in their reading, and not accumulate them to eventually make a untouchable heap. Those super efficient ones who still find time, may read monthly edition of Dhankar Publications Economy in addition to all the above (I know it might sound too much, but the competition is really tough!!).
After all this hard work, you may attempt previous year papers of RBI (those which i advised you to treasure for their optimum utilization at this stage) with actual time limits to fine tune yourself for the test. For the GK Section at this stage, you may mug up the MCQs at the back end of the Pratyogita Darpans Special Edition on Economy.
I hope all this information will give all the puys a ground and understanding to prepare well.

If you have access to CAT prep material, start with that. Or try out the Bank PO prep materials.

I suggest work out as many question papers as possible and practice on time management.

Puys can someone provide previous years RBI papers

puys why is it specifically mentioned that we have to send our application by ordinary post?
Is there a problem if we send it by speed post?

A normal post is delivered in how many days?

yes. because you have to send your application form to a post box(or bag no.) no.
and when you send it by speed post, someone has to sign to claim the item being delivered.
so it is better if you send it by ordinary post and not by speed post.

Reasons rightly pointed by Sunny.
But the question is, can we apply again? The instruction on the RBI website say that we cannot send duplicate entries. Now what do they mean by duplicate entries; two applications with same receipt number or two different application (containing two different receipts number) by the same candidate?
Anybody having faced such a problem or having an insight on this please comment.

cant we send even by registered post??

i don't think my application will reach now by ordinary post..

well, if I were you I would have found some one in mumbai and send my application by airmail to him,so that reaches to him in a day and then asked him to send the application from mumbai itself which would then be a local mail for him. I guess, that would take less time(theoretically at least) in such a situation).

Yeah, you have still got time. Send it thru a faster service to somebody in Mumbai and THEY EVEN HAVE A DROP BOX IN MUMBAI. check out the info in the rbi ad.

Send it thru ordinary post...it is supposed to reach on or before Oct 3 and U have got time.

doubt solved

I know the above post is a big one.....but we must be aware of all the news for GA section..
I have also tried to explain some terms like NABARD , Teaser loans in the post...
Hope u guys like it....;)

Great job!!
I would like to add that under the details of NABARD, Rural Innovation Fund (RIF) is misquoted as Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF). RIDF is actually the fund available with NABARD for lending loans to State Governments for enhancing Rural Infrastructure (primarily rural road, rural bridges and irrigation facilities). The source of RIDF is schedule commercial banks. The schedule commercial banks contribute to the fund to the extent of their shortfall in lending to priority sector (40 % of their adjusted net credit) or agriculture & allied activites (18 % of the adjusted net credit).

I've filled the online application form. Will they accept my application if i send the form today by post .

Hey guys,
I am once again asking on this forum regarding the work profile offered by RBI Gr B. Is it economic policy deciding job or more like a bank PO. If anyone slightly aware of the internal office environment, please respond back.
I need this info very much.

The job profile of an Officer in Grade B is completely different from PO in scheduled commercial reasons for the simple reason that there is no commercial banking in RBI as RBI is the regulator of banking sector and Banker of Banks & Government and not public at large.
Now, what does an Officer in Grade B does? To answer this question we first need to understand the hierarchy of the officers in the organization and various departments of RBI. As regards the hierarchy, from a birds eye view the employees are classified into three groups namely, in ascending order, Group C, Group B and Group A. At the bottom of the pyramid are Group B & C, comprising of support staff. Above them are the Group A, comprising of Officers in following grades, in ascending order, Grade A (Assistant Manager), Grade B (Manager), Grade C (Assistant General Manager), Grade D (Deputy General Manager), Grade E (General Manager), Grade F (Chief General Manager), Grade G (Principal Chief General Manager), Grade H (Executive Directors). Direct Recruitment of Officers in the RBI is on the post Grade B, as Grade A comprises of promotees from support staff. So the exam being conducted by RBI on 18/12/2011 is for the post of Officer in Grade B who will working in the capacity of Manager after joining the bank. As regards the various department, the follwing link will be helpful, http://rbi.org.in/script/AboutUsDisplay.aspx?pg=Depts.htm
(Also, please read the two pdf files, posted in the above URL, regarding roles and functions of the RBI)
An officer in RBI (recruited as Grade B (General) Direct Recruit) can be posted to any of the departments detailed in the above link, except for the following,
1. Department of Economy & Policy Research (DEPR), for which there is a separate exam and only postgraduates in economics are eligible.
2. Department of Statistics and Information Management (DSIM), for which only there is a separate exam and only postgraduates in mathematics/statistics are eligible.
3. Also, there is separate recruitment for Technical Officers (Electrical and Civil), Rajbhasha Officers and Security Officers.

I hope this information answers your query.

P.S.: All this information is as per my knowledge and might be erroneous. For exact details please refer official RBI website.
