What to choose? RBI or any PO(Except SBI)
Most people were asking, and as I had time for analysis, here is what I found. ( Source - Chat with ex-employees, internet search)
Choose RBI assistant anyday.
General analysis :
Pros
RBI Assistant
1. No public dealing.
2. Sexy infrastructure.
3. Same zone posting.
4. Competent colleagues/Boss.
5. You will gain 10 times knowledge at RBI than at "some" bank(because you don't have to focus on customers, rather than you'll have time to focus on indian banking and on its nitty gritties).
6. Fixed work timings. 9 to 5:15. If you work overtime, they will have to pay, so no one is allowed to work overtime. *Yayy*
7. No rural posting. You'll be posted in well developed metros/classA cities.
8. LFC applicable in 2 years in comparison to other banks(4 years). Normal bank employees aren't allowed foreign trips(under LFC) whereas RBIans are allowed.
9. CTC of a Grade A manager( for which you become eligible in 3 years) is more than scale 2 PO. In hand salary will be less, but including perks it surpass the salary of a person joining as PO. So 5 years down the line, RBI assistant will have an upperhand.
10. Minimal workload. If you need to prepare for civil services/other exams, you'll have ample amount of time.
11. You'll be able to live your life peacefully. A PO is not a bad post or job, but yes, not comparable to RBI.
12. Transfer policy is best among PSUs. On request transfer option available.
13. Salary revision is due in february 2016. So you'll be earning almost what a PO earns(1-2k less) from february along with aforementioned benefits.
14. Brand RBI
Cons.
1. Post is Assistant, so people/relatives will have just this one point to showcase their jeolousy. Even if you compare salary of a general bank clerk, RBI's payscale is much better.
I, myself, am expecting around 115+(attempts 136) in PO-5 but have no plans to appear for the interview.
Other thing, Asking on this forum will just confuse you. One working with SBI will cry about his workload and suggest RBI asst. One peacefully working with RBI and hungry for money will advice you to go for SBI/IBPS scale 1,2,3 and bla bla. Analyze your situation yourselves. What do you want in life? Money, peace, or any other thing and then take a decision.
P.s Someone asked about this, wasn't able to comment this on his post, so posted here.

EDIT - When it comes to SBI - You get brand, more workload, more pressure with more money and faster growth(even with growth, pressure increases exponentially). So its real tough to compare in case of SBI. It flushes down to your personal choice then.
