I called em up reg. this e-program. We don't need to visit Pune for this. It would be some online activity (assignment, writeup or something I suppose).
I had a query regarding the hostel in SIMS. Is it necessary to take up a hostel in SIMS or can we stay outside the campus and commute daily ? Does SIMS have day scholars ? What about experienced students with spouses ?
Does anyone knows if there is lateral placements in SIMS? Senoirs please let me know the min work ex required to be able to sit for lateral placements.:wow:

AFAIK, it is not necessary but heavily advisable, at least the first 2 semesters. However, i think if you have your family there, you can continue staying with them...
Hi guys... -what all are we supposed to bring ...i mean like beddings, bucket, mattress, table lamp? -Is laptop really required and if yes what config.?would it be better if we buy from pune itself? -which ATM or bank is present nearby or do we have one inside the campus?
Seniors please help out!!in need for some advice here......
laptop required--- YES laptop config --- anything that runs office '07 buy from pune--- MAHARASHTRA is VERY expensice in electronics. octroi, sales etc etc. so if you are from non MH state, bring your own.
ATM is nearby...so dont worry... money wont be a problem unless you're broke
Also, there's a mall E-square, i think, walking distance from SIMS, so even movies and other 'essentials' would be catered to...

pre induction for SIMS is online as well as offline(!). It is a set of books you are sent and expected to be thorough in by the time the session starts. It consists of basics.. so it isnt a big deal. You might have to make a project or write a report on that material once you get in. For the online part, you have stuff that has to be downlaoded and read again.
Going by their last year thing, It is not an interactive online session requiring a clogged number of hours. However, there may be some changes though they are unlikely.
Any Idea in general, How are the Work hrs in SIMS on a usual day? And wht is the difference during exam/busy days?
when you have submissions, it can get real tiring. like you may manage ony 4-5 hours of sleep and will be busy workign on submissions most of your time.
however, on days when you arent stuffed with work, you will definitely have free time yar... you can go an watch movies etc...
First of all I want to congrats all those who has made to SIMS it was not a easy way to get in from 700 odd people.BeforeI put my views I will introduce myself Snap score:61 Work ex: 1.6 as of now. Fields : IT I have gone through the whole forum and It seems that there are many apprehension about "SIMS" as a college which One look to join or not. I have some of my view to share on this 1. Its a pretty descent college to join and I am sure If it was not of Defence personal many wont be able to make it like I believe my name wont be there with that SNAP Score. SNAP cutoffs for SIMS are low only because of the Defence child applying to it. Many people wont value SIMS that much as they have got it at a much lesser SNAP score which was impossible If it has a civil people too applying to it. 2. About Current Placements Scenario we cant accept such from SIMS but I would like to share some placement figure. This year around 180-200 out of 300 students are placed through campus i.e. >60%.I believe it is a decent figure to live with. Average for 2009 cannot be said as placement season is still going on but it is accepted to be more than 5 lacs and Highest up to this point is 9.5 from two companies i.e Citi Financial and Godrej( J). 3. It is better if we consider 2008 year placement which I believe will give clear picture about placement during boom time. In 2008 Average salary was somewhere between 35k to 40 k and believe me my friend (40 k) and his roomie from HR got 50k (Both are 2008 pass out. 4. In terms of fee structure it has a good ROI. You people tell me which is better a person getting let say 8 laces job(which is possible as in 2008 Avearge was 7.04lacs) after paying a fee of 3 .75(2009-11 year) from a person getting 8 laces after paying a fee of 8 laces (like in case of other symbi colleges) 5. Yes I doubt whether SIMS provides a special lateral placement or not but if we have good number of work ex people in our Batch surely we can put our Case during placement. 6. About ranking I think 2008 ranking gives a better picture of SIMS. May be in 2009 ranking they havent consider SIMS because of it been specific to particular section of people 6. Formost thing: (My personal feeling) Their is no point in fooling oneself. If u people thinks that in next year you will get a better college than this then go for it something like SIBM,FMS or NMIMS(college under 15 ranking).
Hello People, Thats for the information about SIMS. The thread has enabled me to get a fairly good outlook about life at SIMS, placements, resedential etc.
I have few questions for the SIMS seniors or alumns if they are reading this posts.
I have applied for this year (2009) for NRI admissions. Yes the admissions process is quite different from the one thats been talked about in the thread but nevertheless I too have similar questions as the other prospective students.
I applied for SIBM but got into SIMS ( yes even the NRI admissions is quite competitive) there is a small number of seats and people from all across apply. My questions: 1. What is the general breakup of NRI students vs. regular appointees ? 2. How do NRI students usually fare studies wise ? 3. How do NRI students fare placements wise ? 4. Can you hook me up the contact details of any of your friends ( NRI students) who are in the similar boat as me, any one reading these posts please speak up ? 5. How easy is it to find apt, housing within walking distance of the campus ? What is the rate ? How can I find any agents or brokers online ? 6. What this pre-induction e-learning thingie ??
hey!! I GOT THRU SIMS in the first merit list, paid my first installment by dd, which got accepted too.
BUT !!! ........ when i enter my snap id - 1023713 on the Orientation primers of the sims homepage SIMS - Student Login it shows my snap id as Invalid????? seniors, kindly shed some light on this..... As sims is my first and my only option. Has the web page not been updated or something?????
