Solve atleast till LOD-2 from all the blocks. Then depending upon ur interest and strength in a particular topic Drill down into the concepts by solving LOD-3 of that topic:)
Please solve this question.
Q: The population of a village is 5500. if no. of males increases by 11% and the no. of females increases by 20%, then population becomes 6330.
Find the population of females in the town.
options: a) 2500 b) 3000 c) 2000 d) 3500

Find the population of females in the town.
options: a) 2500 b) 3000 c) 2000 d) 3500
Female population = f
1.2(f) + 1.11(5500 - f) = 6330
Solve and you'll get the ans

4)Find all the numbers of the form 517X7 that are divisible by 89.
ans to all the above is NONE:)
Reason...
1) 56x37 doesnt end wit 6 or 2 hence now divisable by 36
2) and 3) to be divisable by 45 the last digit shud end in 5 or 0
4) you can divide maually to chk out the divisability by putting x = 2

dekh yaar .....seedhi si baat hai....
in ques 1...we have Train 1 travelled 75 km in 45 mins....coz speed is 100km/hr * 3/4 hrs which is 75 km
now let's say that they catch each other at time t....
which means distance travelled is equal...
which is 75 + 100t = 136t
which gives t = 75/36
now distance covered is 136t
which is 136 * 75/36
which gives 283.33 KM....are we through ???

Hi divishth,
Thanks for the soln.
Looks like a simple problem... somehow i was not getting hold of it... but the expl. provided by you is immaculate. Now i m confident of cracking similar problems...

a) 8, 10

d) 6,9
This is much easier set than previous one....it says....when ram covers 2000 meters.....shyam covers 1800 meters...and is beaten by 30 seconds...it means he has to cover 200m in 30 seconds.....
so by this we get...
200 m in 30 seconds...
2000 m in 300 seconds...which is 5 mins
Also when shyam is having headstart....of 3 mins...he must have covered 1200 meter..and needs 2 min to reach destination....
in the mean time of 2 mins when shyam reaches destination...ram reached 1000m.....which means ram covers 1000m in 2 mins....
and 2000m in 4 mins...

Ans is (b). The best way is go by options.

(a) 11,4 (b) 12,3 (c) 13,2 (d) 10,5 (e) 9,6
dekh yaar seedhi si baat hai.....a+b = 15
now AM = (a+b)/2 = 7.5
GM = (ab)^1/2 = 20% less than AM = 0.8*7.5 = 6
so ab = 36
b = 36/a
so eqn 1 becomes a + 36/a = 15....which gives a = 12....b = 3
