Q--a bartender stole champagne from a bottle that contained 50% of spirit and he replaced what he had stolen with champagne having 20% spirit.the bottle then contained only 25% spirit. How much of the bottle did he steal?
1-80%
2-83.33%
3-85.71%
4-88.88%

This can be solved with the concept of alligations using either the cross method or the equation.

A1= 50
A2 = 20
Aw = 25

n1/n2 = Aw-A2/A1-Aw

n1/n2 = 5/25

n1:n2 = 1:5

This ratio denotes the relationship between 50% spirit and 20% spirit champagne.

% left in bottle = (1/1+5) * 100 = 16.67%

% he stole = 100 - 16.67 = 83.33%

P.S. It would be great if u could also mention the chapter and page number from the next time!

Chapter- Percentages LOD - II Q. 44-46

A salesman is appointed on the basic salary of Rs. 1200 per month and the condition that for every sales of Rs. 10,000 above Rs. 10,000, he will get 50% of basic salary and 10% of sales as a reward. The incentive scheme does not operate for the first Rs. 10,000 of sales.

44. What should be the value of sales if he wants to earn Rs. 7600 in a particular month?
a. Rs. 60,000
b. Rs. 50,000
c. Rs. 40,000
d. None of these

45. Which of the following income cannot be achieved in a month?
a. Rs. 6000
b. Rs. 9000
c. Both a and b
d. Any income can be achieved

46. Despite a 5 percentage point increment on the commission from 20%, the total commission remains unaltered. Find the change in volume of the transaction?
a. -10%
b. -16%
c. -25%
d. -20%

I did not really understand the question. It would be a great help if someone helps me with the question. Thanks!

As far as I interpret the conditions, they mean that apart from the basic fixed salary of Rs. 1200/month, a person will receive Rs. 600 (50% of basic) if he achieves sales of 10000 or more, plus 10% on whatever extra sale is done beyond 10000.

So, at 9000 units, salary is Rs. 1200, at 10000 units, salary is Rs. 1800 and at 11000 units, salary is Rs. 1900.

Q 44. Since Rs. 7600 has to be earned, we just need to calculate what's the extra income he gets from the component of 10%, apart from Rs. 1800 (1200+600) he already earned on achieving 10000 units.

Since, Rs. 5800 has to be earned, thus 58000 extra units have to be sold beyond 10000 units. Thus, in all, 68000 units have to be sold to earn Rs. 7600. Thus answer should be "None of these"

Q 45. Rs. 6000 can be achieved by selling 52000 units, Rs. 9000 can be achieved by selling 82000 units. Thus answer should be "Any income can be achieved"

Q 46. Couldn't really understand where did this commission come from....

hay guys,

this can be answered by applying reminder theorem. 50 devided by 11 will give reminder of 6. as the power sequence of 6 is - 6 only, hence what ever the power is the reminder will be 6.

hope the above will help you.

enjoy the quant.

M afraid none of these answers are correct 😞

M afraid none of these answers are correct :(

Then can you just check the question once again, especially the statement where it's mentioned about 50% basic salary?? I had a bit of confusion whether this would be applied on achieving 10000 units or does it mean something else.

That's exactly what I also did not understand!

Hi Friends,

This one is from LOD 3 of Chapter 2: Progressions.

Q19) Find the sum of all possible whole number divisors of 720.

a) 2012,
b) 2624,
c) 2210,
d) 2418,
e) 2520.

The answer I am getting is 2418, but this is incorrect. The correct option is (b).

Thanks,
Mohit.

i am getting ans- 2418 as
720= 2^4*3^2*5^1
=(2^0+2^1+2^2....+2^4)*(3^0+3^1+3^2)*(5^0+5^1)

=31*13*6 = 2418

i am getting ans = 2418
as 720=2^4*3^2*5^1
sum=(2^0+2^1+....+2^5)*(3^0+3^1+3^2)*(5^0+5^1)
=31*13*6
=2418

=2418

That's how I did it as well... but the option given in the book is (b)... to make matters worse, the solution to this question is not given...
So mite be this is a printing mistake and the correct answer is indeed 2418...

What is the remainder when 32^32^32 is divided by 7 ?
plz help anyone...

What is the remainder when 32^32^32 is divided by 7 ?
plz help anyone...

Is the answer 2 , if it is, then i will post the explanation
What is the remainder when 32^32^32 is divided by 7 ?
plz help anyone...

32^32^32 mod 7
eulers no for 7 is 6
now 32^6 mod 7 = 1
now 32^32 mod 6 = 2^32 mod 6 = 4 * 8^10mod 6 = 4 * 2^10mod 6 = 8^4 mod 6 = 2^4mod 6 = 4
so we get 32^6k + 4 mod 7 = 32^4 mod 7 = 4^4mod 7 = 16^2mod 7 = 4
so the remainder is 4

the answer is 2....and i got it...i ll post my method,did a silly mistake...

32^32^32/7=4^32^32...the euler number of 7 is 6

therefore 32^32/6 = (2^5)^32/6=2^160/6=2^159/3...this yields a remainder 2

hence 4^2/7=16/7...the remainder is 2...

please revert back if there seems to be some mistake in the solution...

dude when u divide by 2 here...
therefore 32^32/6 = (2^5)^32/6=2^160/6=2^159/3...this yields a remainder 2
u need to mulitiply it by 2 at the end so the remainder will be 4...

Hi

Can some one plz send me some appropriate study material for DI?/?
i'm really looking from some good material as my DI is not good at all.

For DI i would suggest you get hold of time's previous aimcats...i dont think nything can beat that....Books for Di in market are rather obsolete..

If you have any AIMCATs available online, plz pm
