@[591492:Rithu] this is nothing but finding the number of possible integral solutions to the equations :

4a+6b=200.

Now a = 50 - 3b/2

Hence 'b' should be a multiple of 2 for 'a' to be integer and can take values from 0 - 32 which makes the count to 17.

a) ac/bd b)ab+cd c) a/b+d/c d) (a^2/b^2)+(c^2+d^2)

now, sqrt((a^2+c^2)*(b^2+d^2)) ---> sqrt( (ab)^2 +(bc)^2 +(ad)^2 +(cd)^2)

on substituting the relations given in first line in the second expression, we end with sqrt((ab+cd)^2) which comes out as ab+cd

Can some1 pls. help with the solution for the below mentioned question:-

Q1) Find the sum of all possible whole number divisors of 720?

A) 2012 B) 2624 C) 2210 D) 2418 E)2520 ------ (Answer is 2624 and not 2418)..

There is formula for calculating sum of divisors as:

S = ∏_p (∑_i pⁱ) = ∏(p^m+1-1)/(p-1)

Hence answer is 2418.

since every1 is getting the answer as 2418 then i think the answer given in the book is wrong....

Hi..i have a very basic doubt from number system chapter..!

How do u apply remainder theorem to 173*261/13 ? When u divide 173 by 13 individually u get 4 as the remainder and when u divide 261 individually by 13 u get 1 as the remainder..! Numerator (4*1) becomes less than denominator (13)..!! am confused..!!

No need to use Remainder Theoram. Its straightforward. Your getting 4 & 1 as remainders when you divide 173 & 261 by 13 resp. Therefore, 4*1 is the answer.

have an easy and small example.

e.g- 14*5/13. 14*5 is 70 which when divided by 13 gives R=5 ----a

Now if you divide 14 by 13 R=1 & when divide 5/13 R=5 . Therefore 1*5=5----b

Therefore a=b. And obviously the Remainder will be less than the Divisor.

for your Q1) let the nos be a+2d, a+d, a, a-d, a-2d. the sum of 5 nos will be 5a = 30 (given). so a = 6. The 3rd term is 6. and d = 2. Therefore the nos are in the form 2,4,6,8,10.

Q2) largest part is 8. the nos are 2,4,6,8. just do it metally. it will take 15 secs.
