Q. A supply of water lasts for 150 days, if 7.5 gallons leak out every day, but only for 100 days if 15 gallons leak out daily. what is the total quantity of water in the supply?
let everyday consumption (x*150) + (7.5*150) = (x*100) + (15 * 100) x= 7.5 lt so total capacity = 15 *150 =2250 lt

if rakesh and ramesh take 10 days and 12 days respectively to complete a job ,find the time in which the job would have been completed.
how to solve this type of question ....thanks ..
hi, if rakes takes 10 days it means he will do 1/10 or 10% of the work per day. similarly, ramesh will do 1/12 or 8.33% per day. Now together they will do 10% + 8.33% = 18.33 % per day so we can find how much time they together need to do 100% of the work. here it would be 6 days. i hope it is clear now 😃
thanks but what would be the answer if the question get modified like this ...
If Rakesh and Ramesh take 10 days and 12 days respectively to complete a job they work on alternate days to complete it with rakesh starting the job, find the time in which the job would have been completed(in days) ans is 65/6(10 5/6).....thanks
if rakesh and ramesh take 10 days and 12 days respectively to complete a job ,find the time in which the job would have been completed.
how to solve this type of question ....thanks ..
one day work of rakesh = 1/10 one day work of ramesh =1/12 part completed in one day by both guys = 1/10 +1/12 = (6+5)/60 = 11/60 part so total work done in days = 60 / 11 = 5 (5/11) days

it would be simple too..add for 10 days starting from rakesh: 10%(5) + 8.33%(5) = 91.65% . Now, both have worked for 5 complete days and less than 10% of work is left and rakesh will do that in an extra day. so we have nearly 11 days. the given answer shows the same, as 65/6 = 10.8333. so you can look it up in the options. right? 😃

if they work alternately
and rakesh started then work on first day = 1/ 10 then work on second day = 1/ 12
so now total work complete in two days = (1/10 + 1/12) = (11/60)
so repeat the cycle for work completion = (11/60) * 5 = 2 *5 days
now work remaining after 10 days = 1- 55/60 = 5 / 60
and day is 11th day so chnace for rakesh so he will complete the task in (5/60) / (1/10) = 50/60 or 5/6 days
so work complete if rakesh start = 10 (5/6) days
and if rohan start work complete (5/60)/(1/12) = 1 day

are bhai 2 days ka work 11/60
and total work is 1 to ham 11 /60 ko ase no se multiply karenge jo isko 1 ke bilkul near abt but usse kam hona chahiye like( 11/60) * 5 = 55 /60 and if we multiply 11/60 with 6 ans 66/60 which is more than 1 so we multiply with 5 means we repeat 2 days cycle for 5 times means total 10 days
