kittu ji dnt wry....answer for this ques is 16 (1/2) days..
look A=10days
B=20 days
C=40days....we will find lcm of of them...which will be 40...now we will suppose total work is of 40 nits...
A will do=4units works in 1 day
B will do=2 units
C=1unit
ABC ABC ABC ABC...this will be cycle
every cycle will do 7units of works in 3 days...hence we will be needing 5 such cycle=35 units of work
still 5 units of work is left...
that will be done by A and B...A will complete its work...till then 39 units of work will be done....in 16 days...
now B can do 2 units of work...but only 1 unit is left hence
answer will be 16 1/2....days...i hope i am clear

thanks a ton guddaji..i understood all the steps except hence we will be needing 5 such cycle=35 units of work y we need 5 such cycle and hw u calculated that 16???sorry for troubling u..:-(

arey dnt wry...in 1 cycle of ABC 7 units of work will be done...hence....in 5 cycles of ABC=35 units of work will be done....
Work of (ABC)=WORK OF A+WORK OF B+WORK OF C
=4units+2units+1units....
i hope now i am clear....
ps.-baki k bhi solve kar deta..but abhi kahi jana hai...family k saath...baad mein aa kar solve karta hu....

There are three Taps A, B and C in a tank. They can fill the tank in 10 hrs, 20 hrs and 25 hrs respectively. At first, all of them are opened simultaneously.then after 2 hours,tap C is closed and A and B are kept running.After the 4th hour,tap B is also closed.the remaining work is done by Tap A alone.Find the percentage of the work done by tap A by itself.
pls explain in details with steps

is the answer 72% of work done by A alone...

C's work=2/25 which can be also written as 8/100

B's work=4/20 which can be written as 20/100

so remaining 72/100 is done by A that is 72%

Ans : Work done by all of them = 1/a + 1/b + 1/c = 1/10 + 1/20 + 1/25 = 19/100.
So in two hours hours they complete 38/100 part of work.
Work left = 1-38/100 = 62/100.
Now C leaves. So work done by A and B = 1/a + 1/b = 1/10 + 1/20 = 3/20
So for two hours they do = 3/10 part of the work.
Work left = 62/100 - 3/10 = 32/100.
Now B leaves. So remaining part of work done by A in 31/100 x 10 = 3.2 hours.
So total amount of work done by A = (2+2+3.2)x 1/10 = 0.72 part of the work ie 72 % of the work.

1) From a bag containing 4 white and 5 black balls a man draws 3 at random. what are the odds against these being selected? (pls explain what they mean by odds against these being selected)
a) 5/37 b) 37/5 c)11/13 d)13/37

2) In a horse race there were 18 horses numbered 1-18. The probability that horse 1 would win is 1/6, that 2 would win is 1/10 and that 3 would win is 1/8. Assuming that tie is not possible, find the chance that one of the three will win.
a)47/120 b)119/120 c)11/129 d)15/216

3) A husband and wife appear in an interview for two vacancies for the same post. The probability of husband's selection is 1/7 and of wife is 1/5. what is the probability that both of them will be selected?
a)1/35 b)2/35 c)3/35 d)1/7

4)Amit throws three dice in a special game of ludo. If it is known that he needs 15 or higher in this throw to win then find the chance of his winning the game
a)5/54 b)17/216 c)13/216 d)15/216

i didnt get n as 21 not 6 i used the same AP method..could u pls elaborate..
thanks in advance

See.. it is like 10*(1+2+3+4+....+n) = 210
=> 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + ..... + n = 21
=> n = 6 as sum of first 6 numbers is 21

=> 10*(1+2+3+4+5+6) = 21
=> Number of people used = 10 + 20 + 30 + 40 + 50 + 60
=> NUmber of days needed = 60 as at the end of 60th day; there will be 60 people working

He travels like:
20 mins at 30km/hr => Distance travelled = 10 km
30 mins at 50km/hr => Distance travelled = 25 km
60 mins at 50km/hr => Distance travelled = 50 km
60 mins at 60km/hr => Distance travelled = 60 km

=> Total distance travelled = 145 km and total time taken = 170 min i.e. 17/6 hours
=> Average speed = 145/(17/6) = 51.176 km/hr

avg velocity is same as avg speed in mathematics...but very different in physics....
so formula for that is total distance/total time taken
total distance is=speed*time....change very data into hour..or in same unit
hence=30*20/60+50*30/60+50+60
total time will be=20/60+30/60+1+1
put this in above formula and you will get your answer....

they have given that if we put first 4 indians around the table we can do it in 3! hw is it possible?i calcualted it as 4! factorial way??can anyone pls explain hw it is 3! ways..

2)Two girls and their dates go to the drive-in, and each wants a different flavored ice cream cone. The drive-in has 24 flavors of ice cream. How many combi*nations of flavors may be chosen among the four of them if each one selects one flavor?

1.it is 3!*4! because when we place four Indians and it is the same when calculated from clockwise and anticlockwise direction so it is (n-1)!..

2.is it 24*23*22*21

my take is none of these...
A--->8 days
B--->3 days..
let total amount of work be 24 units hence A can do 3 unit of work in 1 day and B can destroy 8units of works in one day..
A worked for 4 days hence 12units of work is done...then B joins him for 2 days which means he will destroy 16 units of work and till them A will have done 18 units of work...
so now total work done is only 2 units
left over work is 22 units ...which A will do in 7 1/3 days...
please correct me if i am wrong somewhere

pls explain in detail with steps

Let train velocity be v m/s
Now assume the train is at rest, so the speed of sound can be taken as 330 + v
In 12 mins, the distance between Raju and Vinay changed by 12*60*v metres.
Speed of traversing this distance : 330 + v
Time of traversing this distance : 30 secs [ If the distance had been same as in previous case, the time taken would have been same. Time has decreased, so the decrease must have been caused due to a decrease in distance ]
(12*60*v) / (330 + v) = 30
=> v = 330/23 m/s
