Can somebody explain the explanation!!
The Simple Interest and Compound Interest (compounded annually) on a certain sum of money at the same rate of interest is Rs. 1000 and Rs. 1728 respectively for the fourth year. What is the rate of interest percent per annum?
5%
10%
15%
20%
Explanation:
interest on the " PRINCIPAL " alone is same in both CI and SI ,but in CI the interest on the interest amount is the additional part, so for the fourth year the CI will be the Amount resulting from the compounding of first years' interest in 3 years.

Please tell me that for snap exam is arun sharma's quantitative books LOD 1 sufficient or LOD 2 is also needed for snap exam

Hi,
I want to learn concepts of SET Theory Questions. I got 3 questions for Minimum and maximum range of Specific things like ONLY A , ONLY B , ONLY A and B, while some value for A, B and ONLY C, ALL three were given and i couldnt attempt it in CAT.:(
Can anybody have such types or any another difficult types of questions related to SETs.
OR is any any source from where i can learn them.
I have only ARUN SHARMA, and i solved those questions.. .
but still there is a gap :(
KIndly help
Thanks a lot

Is the answer 72 ?
The two digit numbers of form _!*1! , 1!*_! , _!*0! will always be less than the sum of the factorials of the two digits ( _! +_! ) .
_! stands for anyNo.from 0-9! .
So for a!*b!>a!+b! , there are 72 numbers.
P.S. Plz provide the answer..
1) A boy multiplies 987 by a certain number and obtains 559981 as his answer. if in the answer, both 9's are wrong but the other digits are correct, then the correct answer will be
a)553681 b)555181 c)555681 d)556581
2) The sum of three prime nos is 100. if one of them exceeds another by 36, then one of the numbers is:
a)7 b)29 c) 41 d)67
3) There are four prime nos. written in ascending order. the product of the first three is 385 and that of last three is 1001. The last no. is:
a)11 b)13 c)17 d)19

Consider x is the amount at 4% for 5 years.
so (3600-x) will be at 6 % for 5 years.
Simple Interest on x amount --(x*4*5)/100
Simple Interest on (3600-x) amount --{(3600-x)*6*5}/100
upon adding -x/5+(3600*3-3x)/10 =960
2x+10800-3x=960
x=10800-960
x=1200.

Thanks

Let the amt given at 4% SI be P and at 6% be (3600-P)
=> P * 4 * 5/100 + (3600-P)*6*5/100 = 960
=> P/5 + 1080 - 3P/10 = 960
=> P/10 = 120
=> P = 1200

a)11 b)13 c)17 d)19
1. Check by division which of the options is divisible by 987. Its 555681.
2. Say the no is 7..then another sum will be (36+7) = 43..but (100-43 = 57) is not prime
now take 67 as one number..(67-36) = 31 is the other no..(31+67 = 9
3. 1001 = 7*11*13
385 = 5*7*11
Last no is 13

Triangular numbers are of form n(n + 1)/2.
See n=1 we get 1
n=2 we get 3 ( 1+2 = 3)
n=3 we get 6 (1+2+3 = 6) and so on
Any number that can be written as difference of squares of two consecutive natural numbers are odd numbers
=> n(n + 1)/2 should be odd
Also, n(n + 1)/2 n=44..then
n=45..then
=> n => 22 such numbers

2)A thief steals four gallons of liquid soap kept in a train compartment's bathroom from a container that is full of liquid soap. He then fills it with water to avoid detection. Unable to resist the temptation he steals 4 gallons of the mixture again, and fills it with water. When the liquid soap is checked at a station it is found that the ratio of liquid soap now left in the container to that of the wated in it is 36: 13. What was the initial amount of the liquid soap in the container if iti is konwn that the liquid soap is neither used nor augmented by anybody else during the entire period?

10% of 70 liters is 7,
So 7+x/70+x=25/200
So x=2 and 2 liters of water has to be added..
90% and 97% pure acid solutions are mixed to obtain 21 litres of 94% pure acid solution. find the amount of each type of acid which was mixed to form the mixture.

3:4 is the ratio in which the acid was mixed to obtain a 94% acid solution.
So 3/7 * 21 = 9L from 90% solution and 12L from 97% solution were mixed to form 21L of 94% acid solution.
