Hi, Is this a method to check divisibility by 7 i.e. take the 1st half & subtract it with 2nd half..or is it just in this case??
Kindly revert.

Regards,
Dhairyesh.

To check whether a number is divisble by 7:

A number is divisible by 7 if and only if the difference of the number of its thousands and the remainder of its division by 1000 is divisible by 7.

example : 473312 is divisible by 7 since 473-312=161 is divisible by 7.

hope this clarifies...
Hi
U can solve this by finding no. os 5's
5(1+2+3+...+20)=5*20*21/2=1050
25(1+2+3+4)=250
Answer 1300 zeroes...Is it correct?

I am not getting the solution u explained on the 4 page of this thread.
Please could u explain in a simple manner
Hi,

If someone has done this question then please confirm

pg 202 LOD 3 Question 1

Can someone please confirm that is the answer given by the book correct/incorrect?

yes hector the answer is correct. no depreciation will occur as taxi is over 10 yrs and since taxi is owned by himself no cost of driver. total cost will be just fuel cost.

Someone please help of how to solve questions like these
log 242 =a, log 80=b, log 45=c and express log 36 in terms of a,b,c
thanks

26. Divya goes to buy fruits and after a lot of bargaining is able to get a price of a dozen apples reduced by rupee 1 from initial price, thereby enabling her to get 1 apple extra for every rupee saved (getting no discount on extra apple), what is the initial price of a dozen apples?
OP. a. Rs 10
b. Rs 13
c Rs. 12
d. Rs 15

Getting 12 but not correct..:banghead:

is it 15...
Take for 12 apple its 180..Price decreases by 1 so its 165 and she gets the 13th apple for 15rs...
Someone please help of how to solve questions like these
log 242 =a, log 80=b, log 45=c and express log 36 in terms of a,b,c

log 242 = log 2 + 2 log 121 = a (clearly useless)
log 80 = 4 log 2 + log 5 = b.......(eq. 1)
log 45 = 2 log 3 + log 5 = c.......(2)

subtracting 2 frm 1

4 log 2 - 2 log 3 = b - c........(3)

Now, we know log 10 = 1
=> log 2 + log 5 = 1..........(4)

subtracting 2 from 4
=> 2 log 3 - log 2 = c-1........(5)

adding eq 3 & 5

3 log 2 = b-1

We got value for log 2.....Get value of log 3 by substituting in egn 3 or 5

Put these values in log 36 = 2 (log 2 + log3)

lazy to do calculations...
is it 15...
Take for 12 apple its 180..Price decreases by 1 so its 165 and she gets the 13th apple for 15rs...

Yup OA is 15......but dint get ur approach......how u arived on 165....Plz elaborate.......Thanks

Getting 12 but not correct..:banghead:

let initial cost for one dozen apples be CP

now after the reduction one dozen costs CP -1

but for each rupee in reduction he gets 1 apple extra

hence for Rs. C he now gets 13 apples instead of 12

(CP-1)*13/12 = CP

=> 13CP - 13 = 12CP

=> CP = 13

No dude OA is 15

solve through options...
a)If initial price of dozen apples is 10... Then the new price would be 9...so with extra one rupee u could buy more than one apple..
b)if it was 13, new price is 12.. So with extra one rupee u would be able to buy that extra one apple..(1 ruppe/apple)
Hence the answer...
c)12 cant be the answer.. if 12 apples cost 11 rs. Then with extra one ruppee u would have some money left after buying.
d)15 is ruled out..

Exactly my point....
Shouldn't it be 12????
He buys 12 apples for Rs. 11 (discounted price)
Now according to original price (Rs.12) he gets one apple for each rupee....

OA IS Rs. 15 :splat:

oh sorry i did miss that!! yeah it shd be 12

let the price of each apple be x/12
after discount=>(x-1)/12
also (x-1)/12+1=x/13
=>x=12
Ps: and 15 cant be the answer bhai... If it is 15 then each apple would cost 15/12=1.25.. With 1 ruppee u would not have enough money to buy that one more apple...

Yup 651 is correct.....
Sum of even factors f 96 = (2+4+8+16+32)*(1+3) = 248
Sum f odd factors f 3600 = (1+3+9)*(1+5+25) = 403
