pls tag those jinko miss kar diya ho meine....
@DeAdLy thanks for starting this thread..

one request to all the puys...keep the thread as clean as possible...because the questions will be posted in the morning and then the discussion starts at night...if we spam here it will be very difficult plus time consuming to go through all the pages to look for the relevant post...

for this I suggest we mark our posts on the top...if we are posting a question we post like this

QUESTION

q) xxxxxxx

and if we are posting a solution/approach......

APPROACH

one more thing people...lets decide upon the days..the assigned day and the person to which it is assigned will be known before hand so that before you leave for office or college you post the questions and then leave....else there will be a confusion...

Plus this will keep everyone alert and also updated...and everyone will get a chance to have there questions posted and the burden will not be on a few...

what say??

Thanks for the input but its too early to decide who will take what topics & when..lets keep on coming with more ideas..
Lets start with first topic:

PERCENTAGE, PROFIT LOSS & PARTNERSHIPS

Open till coming Sunday
happy solving

Q1:

B's salary is 25% more than A's salary. By what percentage is A's salary less than B's salary?

a. 15%
b. 10%
c. 20%
d. 25%

A=100
B=125
(b-a)/b = 25/125 = 20%

20%..

a=100
b=125
a less than b = (b-a)/b *100 = 125-100/125 = 20%

Q2:

The cost of manufacture of an article is made up of 4 components A,B,C,D which have ratio of 3:4:5:6 respectively. If there are respective changes in the cost of +10%,-20%,-30% & +40%, then what would be percentage change in the cost?

a. 10%
b. 15%
c. 7%
d. 2.22%

initial cost = 300+400+500+600 = 1800....
final cost = 330+320+350+840 = 1840
%change = 40/1800 = 2.22%

APPROACH

initial cost = 30+40+50+60=180
final cost= 33+32+35+84=184

%change=4/180=2.22%

Rule: If there is increase of 1/x in one parameter then a corresponding decrease of 1/x+1 is in other parameter.
25% increase=1/4
Decrease =1/5=20%
