Lets get together to prepare for CAT 2012 and other B-school entrance exams

Purpose of this thread is-

- To have a study group of like minded people who can motivate each other throughout this journey.

- To make preparation plan and schedules.

- To share study materials/ mocks on personal basis.

- To share our past CAT experiences and mock strategies.

- To get an idea about various coaching institute in the city.

Hi, I am planning to give CAT this year. My first attempt and m not planning to join any classes. So need someone to provide study material if possible. I know there will be a thread for asking study material but too lazy to search for it. But i need some latest material which i can make copies of.

I am facing an immense problem . I cannot join any CAT Coaching Institute due to my unpredictable job . for 1 week or some times even a month i am out on a project . I planned to study myself . Here the main issue is when i get stuck and cannot understand something i have nothing or no one to look upto . This really demotivates me . So i request you cat veterans to guide me how to overcome this problem of Mine . Also i would really appriciate if someone could Donate some study material to me .

We cannot say that this test series is the best, something like that.But, to give a general idea :

TIME has maximum number of test takers. So you can at least have an idea of your percentile. The question are quite tougher than actual CAT .. thats my exp. But overall good.

CL : Questions are at par difficulty to actual CAT. but do not have so many test takers as TIME. Overall good.

IMS : VA good . Quant and DI : average.

I do not have good idea about other test series like Test Funda.

Its up to you which one to join. But I would suggest , join TIME , and also get CL test papers from someone.

Well you can form a study circle with other people who are serious about CAT preparation and you can share your doubt with them. We have different threads running on PG covering different areas. If you have any doubts you can put them over there :).

Yeah definitely advantage of TIME is that you will get an indication where you are standing among large number of test taker. Around 15-20K people are there taking TIME. Apart from that mock quality is not as good. Generally the mock is on tougher side as compared to actual CAT.

CL and IMS are good in this regard (closeness to actual CAT).

If you have plenty of study time then you can go for 2 test series. But make sure you are analysing each and every mock seriously because merely giving a mock will not serve the purpose.

Would suggest people to go for CL test series and target more than 95-97%ile in every test. if u reach there, you are in the queue to IIM unless luck plays spoilsport.

if you have more time with you , go for Test funda.
Mkae sure analysis of the tests are most important , without that they are useless.

would advise people who are sort of study material or people who havent joined any coaching classes to make past year's CL mocks as their practise material.
believe me that is the best DI material on the planet u can have.
They are in PDF format with answers and is more than sufficient for someone who is motivated enough to reap the benefits.
