Being with PG into PG and For PG from August till now I gained a lot in this virtual world.For me its a knowledge base,recreation to be here.Found so many people with so many avenues to look for.Whenever I am here I just think I am late I should have been associated with PG right from the first year of engineering.But "mool mantr" for good life is "never regret for wrong" and "never justify ur wrong deed".
For all I should say "dere is always Unexplored area to be explored" for people who are new and specifically for engineers I am starting this thread just because I am a 2009 pass out and gave approxinately 20-25 PSU exams cleared 6-7 of them but couldnt make it finally in interviews.The thread is started for a purpose I may not say its anti-MBA its just another avenue to be explored because people might not know what they are destined to so its just another option for engineers/MBA's/CA's
Off campus PSU exams such as:
1.GAIL
2.SAIL
3.HPCL
4.BPCL
5.IOCL
6.NHPC
7.EIL
8.NTPC
9.ISRO
10.DRDO
11.VIZAG STELL
12.HLL
13.PDIL
14.BSNL
15.BARC(OCES/DGFS)
16.EKT(Air FOrce)
These are the exams which covers PSU and research companies and strictly no GATE discussions here as preparations for GATE and PSU exams vary a lot.
Shoot up with ur doubts PSU is also a gr8 avenue with hefty packages and chill life.

A very good initiative.. :cheerio:
It will create a whole lot of range to the fellow puys,

:cheerio: Keep up the good work,
Please, explain a bit about each of the organisation and the schedule

For ECE branch of engineering I admit that seats are too less in PSU's as far as competetion is consider.More students/candidates for less number of seats.For ECE students beast research company is DRDO then priority wise is ISRO.Coming to public sector:
I would suggest you some companies and probable date of exams and interview/procedures
1.SAIL:
Dis one is a steel major having maximum market share after TATA steel.Life is bit slow in this company.You want to settle early in life with no rat race for money SAIL is for you.
Approx date of notification -> "july/Aug"
Exam date --> 1/2 months after notification
Procedure -> Written test containing sectional and sub sectional cut offs.
Sections -->
1.technical-> 100 questions
2.Non tech -->
A).English
B).General knowledge
C).Logical reasoning
D).Quantitative aptitude
Each sub section has also cut off very strict method of exam
Interview--> GD consists of 1).prioritisation of problems
2). Case study and analysis
3). discussion on general topic
Weightage for 2 stage process
1). Written -> 60%
2). GD-> 20%
3). Interview -> 20%
Whole procedure of SAIL is about 9 months for the full recruitment till joining a bit sluggish
But worth it............Will come with more companies depending upon the people joining the thread else it would be a waste

See dude I would love to answer ur query but there are very less PSU exams for Computer science but this year ONGC was blessing in disguise for CSE students
So PSU exams for CSE are:-
1.SAIL(exam conducted on 12 Dec 2010)
2.BPCL(notification is out for 2010)
3.DRDO(notification expected in 2011 as it was not there in 2010)
4.VIZAG steel
5.BARC(OCES/DGFS)(application thro GATE and Seperate exam)
And never care for CGPA because PSU look for quality engineers if u proove to be one den surely u ll be in one of my fren wid CGPA of 6.5 is in ONGC

Ongc offers seats for mechanical under 3 dpts.
1.Production
2.drilling
3.mechanical
