regarding the question that u asked lest look at all the insti's one by one
MDI ...... basically teh cut off is some where above 96 percentile ( 97 to b on safe side) provided u also clear all other cut offs ....but thats no guarantee in mdi .. its an upcoming insti and very picky about selection... last year even 100 percentiler got rejected ...
SP JAIN : this is a weird kinda insti as far as the calls go .. tehy will send u calls even before the cat centiles are out ( being a state topper helps ) also since they have asked people to specify their specialaisation it depends on ur profile also like a CA has got more chance of finance and so on and so forth ... i have seen people in general category getting calls even at 92 percentile ... yeah and one more thing is that its very very work ex centric so probabaly u stsnd a good chance if u have relevant work exp

Here we go again
1. There is no cut-off for SPJIMR ... it's your complete profile that matters: Acads, Workex, Extra-Currics and till last year essays. The belief is that looking at a variety of parameters rather than merely a two-hour exam is a better way to select good candidates. It's unfair to qualify this as "weird"
2. Some facts: there are 6-7 CAs out of 30 odd students in the Finance specialization at SPJ ... many of the rest are BEs and BTechs
3. This year if you're not sure about whether you want Mktg or Fin you can make your choice at the end of the first year
4. "General category"?? At SP Jain, there is only ONE category ... no quotas, no reservations, no management seats, it's a pure mertiocracy 😃
5. As far as the work-ex dimension goes, this has been repeatedly pointed out on the SPJ admissions thread: for IM and Ops specializations relevant work-ex is strongly recommended. For Mktg and Fin, everyone's at par.
So if you're looking at SPJain, unfortunately (or fortunately) you can't target a particular cutoff in CAT, it's the overall package that matters. This doesnt mean CAT/XAT scores are irrelevant ... just that they don't solely occupy centrestage.

Raj was hinting at me when he said tht aspirants r quoting u on other threads wrt the 100pc guy gettn rejected!!...Yep, even I wana know this case's history...Btw, was he rejected, i.e didnt even get the GD/PI Call coz of his/her inability to clear the sectnl cut off's or did the rejection take place in the GD/PI stage??...If agar pehli wali baat hai toh then then theres nothing really to argue coz sectnl cut off's r sacrosanct in a way, but if a 100 pc guy/gal got rectd at the GD/PI stage, surely I wana know the reasns 4 it...Dont think headweight can the sole reason, or was it??
1 thing doc n its strange that an IIMI guy has done it...i.e posted his e mail add...Its not supposed to b done, so editing karo ji...U too Raj, while quoting your pal, u'v let his e mail id b known to the PGites, editing reqd at your end as well...

first of all brij i must tell ya that u have made a big fuss out of that ...:grab: u have missed the whole point ..... teh whole point was that mdi has gone up scales in its reputation and hence getting an percentile only is not the selection criteria at MDI as is teh commom perception that getting 99+ 0r 99.5+ automaticaally guarantees ur admit ito mdi ..... last year i had a final call from mdi and teh person that i m talking about was in my GD BATCH and is presently in IIM BANGALORE ( it is not decent for me to post his name on this forum )....and for ur kind info he had all the sectioinal scores in 99+ percentiles so no question of him being falling short on any cut offs ... its just that mdi uses rigorous selection procedures which go far more than just the centile and may b that 100 percentiler did not fit into those criterias ..... so if u are fighting to sneak into mdi on teh absis of percentile ( not referring to u .. just as a cat applicant :p) then u are seriously mistaken ......
i hope i had made my point well and clear to u .... feel free for any more queries ....

Sorry, but I'm not responsible really if ppl's post r more/less ambiguous...If a person doesnt get a call at 100percentile, its bound to send shockwaves thru any1, leave alone me coz as I said theres actually a huge diff b/w a 99 n a 100 percntile...So, if u'd specified ki the rejection took place at the GD/PI stage n not at the earlier stage, this whole mess cld have been avoided...I mean, any1 at this level wld know the selection at any top notch inst. wldnt depend solely on the percentiles; Had that been the case, the inst. wld have issued only as many calls as there were no. of seats...Nonetheless, all's well tht ends well..!!...Rest assured, I'l feel free to ask any queries...PEACE:popcorn:

NITIE : There is a strong indication that NITIE might be issuing higher number of calls this year than previous years and that factors like Workex, Acads, extra culs, college etc might get more weightage...
Pls note. I write "might" as we students have little say in the admissions process (everything else in NITIE is run by the students practically).. we communicate what vibes we get thru the faculty interactions..
This is also to correct the statement by fellow pgite that NITIE is very centile centric .. somewhere earlier on this thread..

Yeah dude ,
there are 5 guys who are rewarded as 100 percentile ... see what happens is that after 99.996 percentile the comp makes it 100 percentile and if u calculate it on a base of 1,40,000 students it comes out to b 5 students after 99.996 ...

Your chances seem dim man. SPJIMR give a lot of stress on the profile of a candidate and also on CAT score. With your score, I would say getting a call would be tough.
Their singapore and dubai campuses are great. They have the best of the facilities with a good ROI. Visit their websites to get more information on them.

NITIE should give you a call. MDI your chances seem dicey. SPJAIN, the call depends a lot on your profile as well so you need to specify that.
IIMs have already come out with their shortlists. So I guess you should know your status.

Well wished to know the lowest or rather the range of CAT/XAT %ile scores of IM specialisation students.
Given a good profile (good enough to be in profile based list) wht kind of
%ile range one shud fall in so tht this score criteria is met..
i got 93.4 %ile in CAT, hoping for 95+ in XAT.
Just need to get an idea about the %ile of students with final converts, especally with IM specialisation
