I think I posted in the wrong forum earlier. So here is my query again.

As a lot of current MBA students are members of this board, I wanted to ask them what preparations should be made before joining an MBA course? Once you actually join the course, the time to really build up the basics in the new subjects is not going to be there because of the hectic schedule. e.g. For an engineer trying to make a transition to the finance world a basic understanding of economics and other finance subjects is going to be required. So what books, courses or websites you guyz would recommend that can be read in ones pastime. Just some stuff to get the basics right and pique ones interest in its further study.

Kinda strange if the only reply to your thread is your own. But here are a few links that I came across that deal with pre MBA preparation. There is a lot of repetition, but hopefully they make a good starting point.

What i feel you really need to learn before you join a B-school is,

1. MS Powerpoint
2. MS Excel

Well, even when i was waiting for my college to begin i asked my seniors as to what i should read cos i was an engineer and had no idea as to how i would be able to comprehend the subjects. But the advice given to me was, your b-school time will be teach you everything from the fundamentals and so you do not need to really learn anything before hand. Moreover, savor the time you have with you right now and enjoy, cos once u are in the school u'll be having a totally different kind of "fun" :)

The best form of pre-preparation for MBA, i believe, is to do undergraduation in business-studies i.e BBA 😁 😁 😁

hey people

i don't know why this thread isn't as popular as it should be... we could make good use of it by having a discussion on the REAL stuff that needs brushing up before we actually start off with the classes later. for starters, any views on the kind of maths topics which need to be brushed up would be welcome.

do keep posting!

Thanks a lot for these wonderful links
