and are the salaries offered by some company in the above two the same as that provided i iims??

Regarding placements ...its not the b school name tht counts...if the school is ranked in Top 10...then u can expect good job...wht i want to say that is ...there are 1001 things to be done in a b school to get a good job finally...and there r numerous other factors which influence ur performance in a b school..for ex engineers are at a great disadvantage....in 1 term ( subjects like economics take a toll)....and it doesnt take long time when every one realises CRACKING CAT AND GETTING INTO A B SCHOOL is the most easiest part...GOING OUT SUCCESSFULLY IS THE TOUGHEST job ...so guys stop thinking abt salaries in a bschool...all the best for all the CAT ASPIRANTS.

This is very important question which people ask themselves when they choose a B school. i m in MDI right now and i owe this site so i do visit here to hep the aspirants in the way i can.
Regarding placements MDI and SP jain have equally good placements what u have in IIML yeah there are a few cos like McKinsey which visit them not us but u can;t ignore the fact that they have to place 250 odd guys and we place 120 guys. So in a way in a way if u b a toppen in IIML u get a better placements then MDI and SPJain but yeah if u not in top 75 - 100 there u get better in MDI n SPJain. so its all u have to decide whether u wanna minimise the risk or not..
Regarding IIM I and K, we have better placements then them yeah they do get some better offers sometime bcoz of the work ex. people in their institute and these ppl get lateral placements inflating the average salary.
And don't worry about placements if u r in top 10 u get good placements anyway. Yeah the only thing miss out if u not in top 3 is investment banks and foreign banks rest all r the same.

hey vik, thanx for the info on mackinsey and J P Morgan visitin SPJain this year, well guyz, adoks and sarma have given u quite a decent pic of the scenario in MDI. Let me add on a lil more. Well reg salaries offered, MDI DOES NOT ACCEPT DIFFERENTIAL SALARIES. Hence what a company pays at IIM A is the salary, and job profile that MDI guys also get. We do not have a few cos which visit ABC, but most of the other companies visit. We also have a host of big ones coming to MDI every year and this year, it can only get better from the looks of it. I shall put up a detailed placement report once we have our final day at MDI. We have biggies from all streams visitin our campus, so no worry. And MDI has never had a less than 100% placement scenario right from batch1
If any of you guyz have any specifics u wana ask, ur welcome to pm me. And ya, Satya, goodjob at XIMB, wel put up ours once wer done ;)

catcracker, as regards to finance, we certainly have quite a few students specialising in finance(including myself), but if u r looking at a very lucrative sal and something like treasury or forex, not everybody here(or for that matter in any bschool) gets it. MDI is a relatively new institute compared to A B C, and it takes time for an institute to demand big jobs(esp fin - invt banks etc). But certainly, we have had companies like CRISIL, ICRA, HDFC, ICICI Pru, AVIVA, IDBI, SBI, Power Finance Corporation, Neslte(offered corp fin job last year at around 8 odd lakhs pa) providing finance jobs. Like i said, if ur looking at working in Investment Banks or Big Consultancies, it may take some more time though. Id only request you guys to wait for some more time(within a month), wherein wel have our final placements done, and then i can give u the kinda companies visiting campus. At this point of time, policy of our insti does not permit me to name the companies coming this year, but we certainly are lined up for better placements as usual :). Il certainly have a detailed report soon

hey.. I am a comp sci at Bits-Pilani with a pretty good cgpa. Would that help, if i apply for MIS in SPjain? And how are the placements and future scope in this field? Also among marketting and finance, which has better placements?
