This forum has been around for ages, and there are some absolute gems of posts out there.
This is a thread dedicated to some of those brilliant posts, which get lost in the multitude of threads.
Oldies: This is for us and OMPA
I'm sure each of you have your favourite posts which you still go through and guffaw at when you have spare time. Put them all up here for the new generation to enjoy.
I have intentionally not made the title 'PG's best posts' because then people will start putting up links to long sentimental posts which people pretend to like and thank because its the right thing to do
No offence
But I wanted a thread where people can just split their sides laughing rather than going 'Awww'.
So let's get started, shall we?
Chuck
Like all discussions on amazing ODIs start with Johannesburg 2006, all conversations about funny PG posts should start with Pradeep's brilliant Satires.
Find them here:
1. Part one
2. Part two
These posts are too large to copy paste here so just linking them. Enjoy
Chuck
One of the most inane threads ever was which pencil to use?? but it started of some brilliant discussions which validates the OMPA theory that just because a thread seems to be stupid, doesn't mean it should be instantly locked. Otherwise we'd miss out on the opportunity to have some fun and some brilliant posts. Like this one here, which is one of PG's greatest ever.
Here's the post:
Guys...
I am really in a mood to BS more..Please excuse me ...
Disclaimer : This analysis is based on my " Personal Opinion" which may or may not match with any PGite ...Doesn't matter anyway![]()
( especially when you have confessed to BS
)..Let's get back to business..
Well, Suppose your Attempt in any MOck ( or for that matter , CAT ) is like this :
VA/RC : 40
QA : 20
DI :25
Now, the basic ingredient for attempting so many question would ofcourse be a pencil...The Analysis which follows will show you what difference your choice of pencil could make...
The OMR sheets has the circle thingies which are around 3 mm in dia..Area = 3.14*9 mm^2 = 28.26 mm^2...For 85 Attempts , this translates to 2402.1 mm^2.
With a 0.5 mm pencil at a speed of 25 mm/s ...you can shade an area 25 mm^2 in one second..So, for shading 2402.1 mm^2 of area, you would need 96 Seconds.
Well, that number is based on a linear analysis. The OMR sheet calls for circular shadings where the speed reduces to half . ( owing to Centrifulgal forces![]()
)...
So, you need 192 Seconds !! i.e. 3 Minutes and 12 Seconds !!
So, play with the lead tip width and get your dream number..If you are able to find a pencil with 1 mm width lead, you can save 1 minutes and 36 seconds ...That would give you chance to do one more "sitter" in QA and raise your percentile by 1 or may be 2 points...
Now, I am feeling sleepy !! Need some tight cozy sleep !! Good night all ! All the best to all for the Pencil Selection...Contact me in case you are struck wih the calculation...
PS : It's not me.....It's my anxiety !! Kindly Adjust !!
And an early version of a Puyscar by Allwin (or whoever he is
)himself to follow this:
If there was an OSCAR for BS .. I'd hand it over to you rightaway.. Nice WORK there

There is this gem from Arun aka Psychodementia on the PG awards 2006 thread - short, sweet and funny
I find Sahil Goyal is the Best Avatar.
psychodementia| SaysSahee hai. You joined just today and already have some strong opinions
There was another brilliant conversation on that thread...
grondmaster SaysI honestly doubt if anything like this could occur... After all... Chuckie boy's saved his a$$ from aliens as well... Check out this link!
Boy, this is fun!
My encounter with extra-terrestrials has sparked up a debate on this thread
thedragonreborn SaysWere they green with bulbuous lamps? Did they chirp to each other rather than talk? Were you projected up into the ship and then beamed down???? Did they, ummm..... probe you?:whatthat::-(
As green as our ownhere and they didn't have lamps, they used torches.
thedragonreborn SaysUmm.... I was reffering to the opto-sensory organs rather than visual aids projecting luminescence.
chuck_gopal SaysAh. Those. They did have something like that sticking out of their respective cranii, but I assumed it was some sort of fashion on that planet to have mushroom-like protuberances growing on their heads. Didn't know it was to facilitate visuality
|shrutz SaysI think you ought to get your own mushroom like protuberances checked.
Suppose MavericK was the host of KBC... and the four options were names of four insipid threads on PG... What would he say...??
Lock kar diya jaaye?
And finally...
And now its time for the celebrations to end!
Locked!
Pradeep's brilliant Satires.

Abhinav
