btw, did u mention ur 6 mths workex in the from coz as far as i know, ur workex shd b atleast 1 yr.
i know my DI is too low but doesnt my overall compensate it????
n wen i c urs, no offence man, but it hurts. i aslo have around 2 mths of workex but i guess anything less than 1 yr isnt important.
always have been a topper in my course in DU.

PS:sorry 4 posting this on this thread but i have seen many ppl with lesser percentile in all the sections getting calls frm IIMA. so cudnt resist posting it here.

Hey people i have got 98.2 percentile overall but no calls from anywhere even though i have 6 months work experience.. :wink:

My scores are as under:

Verbal: 98.2%ile
DI: 92.4%ile
Quant: 89.88%ile.
Overall: 98.2%ile..

But still no calls..!! :x

I am thinking of drafting a letter to the Times of India, Indian Express, Hindu and the Mid-Day & Afternoon in Mumbai. I was wondering if you guys would like to sign it. I will send it to them vi email. What i will need from you guys , in one line, is your full name, overall percentile, VA percentile, QA percentile , DI percentile.

This is with regard to the recently conducted CAT 2004 examination taken by 1,50,000 + students all over India and the subsequent declaration of results and Interview Calls by the IIMs.
We have worked and worked towards this goal (IIM) for a year (in some cases, more). A large no of students, in spite of having brilliant scores, have not got calls from any of the IIMs. Our grouse is not about getting rejected per se, but about not knowing what we need to work towards. A classic case is that of people whose scores place them in the 100th percentile but dont get calls from a few of the IIMs.
The least we deserve from the IIMs is an explanation about how they select students each year. From the current calls it all seems very random. People who are the 96th percentile are getting calls while people who are the 99th percentile are getting none. What really are we supposed to work for? If the criteria differ from year to year, then they must at least tell us, after the results, what they expected from this years candidates.
It is about time someone asked some questions and demanded some answers. Each year, we apply, study, get rejected (most of us, anyway), accept that and then do the same thing the next year anyway. No one asks any question because we are all too busy running around like dogs writing entrance exam after entrance exam in the hope that we get in somewhere. Also the word of an IIM is like that of God. All you get from them is a Sorry, you have not been short listed, and thats that. We are just expected to accept that. Let us reiterate the fact that we are not just a bunch of sore losers acting up. All we want to know is why?! Even the IITs now give people their absolute score and allot ranks. Other B-Schools like NMIMS tell us what the cut-offs are and even give us weightage values for Work-experience and past academic record (SIBM, Mumbai University Colleges). Why cant we have that kind of transparency if the CAT score and cutoffs are the only criteria? Did we get rejected in spite of a great CAT score just because someone got 2 % more than us in their 10th or 12th class exams (which incidentally were more than 5 years ago)? If this is the case maybe a whole bunch of us will not bother spending a whole lot of sweat and tears and Rs. 1100 on applying to the IIMs, and maybe we can save ourselves the disappointment.

and 85 in QA

i got calls from c and i........ why not l & k if cal thought i was good enough.

Each of you have a percentile of 80 or thereabouts in atleast one section. Really, what else are you expecting ?

Not to belittle your score, but its pretty rare that a 80% ever makes it even to a call stage. Even if they do, they get calls from either one or two IIMs as the requirement of the IIM may be.

Plus, if you equate ranks to final admits and calls - you need to get out of your engineering hangover. Everything in life is not black or white. Shades of grey abound.

I dont know what the official position of Admin & mods is on this but I feel this isnt the best thing to do here.

arjun_82 : Everybody understands the disappointment & dejection one faces when he/she doesnt receive any calls inspite of best efforts. But, to use this site as a medium to launch your tirade against IIM's selection process -- I am strongly against it. As PG said, there are always shades of grey in any system & nobody doubts the quality of output of CAT. Members of this board I guess are free to collate information & derive whatever conclusions they want from that but using those as facts to launch an official protest, that too involving media -- Bad Idea I guess.

But, as always.. its just my opinion.

I absolutely agree. Just in case you had any thoughts of doing that Arjun, drop it. You are free to collate information from other members on the thread, but at no point will this site become a medium against your tirade with the IIMs.
