[Official] XLRI JAMSHEDPUR 2020-22 Admission Queries

Can anyone who has withdrawn from XLRI please tell me the process? I received a reply asking me to send a soft copy of withdrawal application.

Xl Delhi:

Pros:

1. Jamsedhpur Placecomm will try for SIP

2. Xlri brand

Cons:

1. Even if placecomm pushes the CV some companies won't hire since its the first year of existance, their policy wont allow.

2. With current waitlist standing over 700+ the quality of the incoming batch ll be perceived to be, due to lack of better word, bad!

3. Director of XL Delhi kinda up sold the whole placement pitch, ok not a valid point.. but its just that being a director he should have known better I guess.

4. 120 extra SIP offers wont be easy so no way placecomm concurred to this.

anything else to add in either of the sections?

  • Missed a lot of point. Adding in comment section
  • Sound Fair

Okay so in order to start it's just a theory I have in my mind from few days, it's not that I am pitching in for XLRI-ncr it's just I feel there is a big misconception which is being viral over everywhere. Just to clear the air, xl ncr will not be chosen by anyone who has either left jsr for better converts or by anyone who is selected over there in jsr. So for jsr bm - 180+ 100= 280 For jsr hrm - 180+180= 360 Total reaches 640, this is the rough estimate of people who wont even think twice before rejecting xl ncr. I hope everyone agrees on this, now even if xl ncr wl movement goes somewhere near 850 or 900 till the completion, It's not 120 selecting ncr out of 1000 Students, it's 120 selecting xl ncr out of (1000-640 atleast) 360 students and that's quite satisfactory and recruiters will look this and not what is being viral. I hope the rant which is there about such a huge wl movement gets clear and rectified. The only assumption I am making is that all jsr converts must have got selected in xl ncr be it someone from bm or hrm (please don't consider the rare 20-25 students) And for the peeps coming to spread hatred yes, I got a convert from xl ncr and this was never my choice, I got 99.875 in xat but my shitty acads and the black box has left me no choice. P.S. I am still looking whether I should join xl ncr or not!

I withdrew from NCR campus and sent a withdrawal application and a cancelled cheque on Monday. By when can I expect a refund?

Hey so I just heard back from the dean of XLRI Delhi campus and the decision of having common final placements has been taken. I trust in the xlri brand and their management and my only concern was the placements and the pandemic uncertainties. So with the above decision I be relaxed about the placement part atleast? And be assured of a good enough ROI after 2 years which is if not equal but comparable to what jamshedpur students will get?

I just got my final call letter xlri delhi. Can someone explain me the timeline. Eg till when can I get full refund and the tentative start date?

Hi Wanted to clear the air on some aspects which seem to be in qustion regarding the Delhi campus. Please see attached mail from the Director of the delhi campus .. I wanted to tell all new aspirants that the director may pitch for and even get approval for common placements but in the end the placements are student run .. Assume a scenario where companies are coming to a legacy 70 year old campus and there is a sister campus which is 1 year old. There arent any on campus departments or societies, any campus activities and lets face it the reputation dosent preceed you .. do you think the JSR students wont get preference ? .. furthermore the placecomm at the time will place their campus first because their seniors placed them and would have much stronger bonding with their juniors ( These are not assumptions its basic human behaviour and logic) .. I am not saying the Delhi campus people wont get jobs but lets be practical the placements wont be at par for both campuses . Yes the bright 1-2 make it to a good company but most of your resumes will go into the 2nd pile ... That being said I am sure it will be a good experience but take an informed choice, dont fall aprey to lies and shameless marketing from desperate people. P.S: Dadu ki roll , Bishu Ki chai and Bala ka Dosa sae pet nahi dil bharta hae

DESPERATE TIMES CALL FOR DESPERATE MEASURES!

End of story.

A lot of people have been asking around about placements and other things. Some of them have been given informations to base decisions that are irrelevant to the decisions they intend to make.

1. PPO figures of this year won't be as high as last year. A significant portion of batch feels that it won't even be half of last year. If you have been told it was 50% last year it is a lie, it was about 43%. It wouldn't be a shock if it is nearly 20% this year.

2. According to Student Manual section 34 subsection 2 - (34.2) - " It should be clearly understood that the institute is under no obligation to find a suitable job for students." This is the actual quote and not paraphrased.

3. Some people think that recruiters will not take into account the institute and look into the real talent of students . Based on my experience , that can just not happen. Even if they don't allow mentioning names of institute in CV , how will they prohibit students to mention things unique to jamshedpur, Most live projects for jamshedpur students will be in jamshedpur, maxi fair happens in jamshedpur similarly there are just so many things which you can't take away from a CV which reveals the campus.

4. Jhajjar batch is an extension of Jamshedpur Bm batch, in design sure it can be. In terms of Profs. it can be. But these things are true for even Harvard online courses but that doesn't make you eligible for placements. So don't think that you will be getting access to all top firms. Recruiters will be selective, so don't have an expectation of sitting for Mckinsey or something. We want our juniors to be comfortable by reality and not depressed, hence it is better to get clarifications now than afterwards.

5. Tip - if in doubt reach out to some senior/ alumni and just ask factual decisions that will help you take your decisions. Don't ask for life advices, we are not in your situation, we don't want you to take wrong decisions because of our biases.

6. Covid is shit, Timing for expansion is wrong , Students are not even considered stakeholders , it is just another glorified private institution so take decisions wisely considering all facts into account. Would love to meet you guys at campus or virtual meet ups.

https://instagram.com/xlyaarwhy?igshid=1lxgns261lygf Have a look at this profile, Abhi se jhajjar walon k itne memes bnne lge h, aur vo bhi JSR BM snrs hi bna rhe h.....How could you even think that seniors will treat equally their jnrs from jhajjar batch ?

Which is a better option

Is there any official group for ncr converts?

Hey guys!

What are the freshers who're still not finished with their final exams supposed to do for the registration process ? We can't get a provisional certificate as well without exams being conducted. Has the college said anything about this ?

Hello everyone, Can anyone give us the clarifications on theses things for Xl-NCR : 1. A screenshot has been circulated stating combined final placement for both the campuses. Is it true? 2. Whether we will get degree from XLRI Delhi-NCR or will we get degree from XLRI only (campus name not written) ? 3. Will we get support from XL alumni network or will we be considered as a completely new campus with no alumni base? Admins & seniors please help us out so that we can take informed decision.

Just got this mail from the XLRI Jamshedpur Placement Committee mail ID. I am stunned. I don't know what to do now. Not like I have any other institutes to go to after 4 years of work experience.

We have paid so much to reserve our seat from the words released by the Fathers and now this is what we get after all those assurances and promises.

Were these so called student PlaceComm members going to hide this bit of infromation from us till it was too late? Were they even in on this at all from the first instance? Why weren't they open about it earlier? Why now? What happened suddenly now?

Were these directors/admins just going to say the same thing to get more people like me to get our hopes up and pay the booking fee? The same lies to get more helpless people like me to jump on the XLRI bandwagon.

Was I the fool who did not ask for details when I should have ? Was I the fool who just believed what I wanted to?

I am so damn angry now. Dad was happy that at least it's XLRI. Was delighted that everything is combined. You didn't have to raise our hopes up in the first place!

I am sorry for this outburst. I am just angry. And so are some others like me who opted to join the Delhi NCR campus. I cannot be public in this outburst as if I join I fear that I might be targeted. But I am so angry. And helpless.

Text from image (if not clear): Dear Students, Hope you are all keeping safe in these trying times. We at XLRI have a proud legacy of seven decades and some of the leading minds in the Indian corporate space are our alumni. Our placements for many decades has reflected this legacy. However, this year, the opening of a new campus at NCR coupled with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has caused a lot of confusion. Many queries have been raised over the past weeks regarding placements for the upcoming year and we have seen posts on various forums regarding placements. Though the ultimate responsibility of placements rests with us, there are multiple stakeholders in the process, and we have been in constant discussions with the college administration, professors, and companies. We shall summarize our understanding of how the placements for this year shall operate and attempt to depict the scene as accurately and honestly as possible to provide you with all the available facts so that you can make an informed decision. Please note that these are the facts that we have as on date and are subject to change since we need to dynamically respond to this unprecedented and rapidly changing situation. • A separate team (consisting of external consultants) shall be appointed at XLRI NCR who will be Points of Contacts (POCs) for students of the NCR campus for all matters related to placements • That team (as mentioned above) at NCR campus will shoulder the responsibility of being POCs for administrative & logistical requirements to run the placement process, while the Placement Committee at Jamshedpur will provide its support & guidance • While the current Placement Committee will work dedicatedly for the students of Jamshedpur campus, the external team shall be responsible for bringing recruiters on board for the NCR students and ensure availability of offers for students from NCR campus • The combined Summer Internship Placement process will attempt to ensure that all students get an opportunity to apply for all visiting companies, however, the final decision regarding the same rests with individual companies. Please note that we cannot at this point tell you with certainty whether a certain company will visit either or both campuses for placements. • The CVs for the two campuses will be in a similar format but will be differentiated by the campus for the purposes of recruitment (as per the directive of some of our regular recruiters) • There will be no involvement of the juniors in the Placement Team till Summer Internship Placements are completed • For the combined final placements for the batch of 2022, a Placement POC team would be selected from students of XLRI NCR campus, who would function with the external stakeholders and the Jamshedpur Placement Committee. The process design for the same is a work in progress We will attempt to answer any further queries and reach out to you in case of any significant changes to the above process. We wish you all the best for what lies ahead and hope you have a rewarding experience at XLRI. Regards, XLRI Placement Committee

What's this fuss all about? The SIPs are going to be combined. (NCR students : that's great) The placements are going to be combined ( NCR students : Yaay) But we will mention the campus names on the CVs *All hell breaks loose* NCR students : wtf. This is completely wrong. How the f#ck they can do that. This is a foul play by the Admin. Common guys some balancing needs to be there. Just like Jamshedpur student didn't know about the combined placements earlier so they were at some disadvantage and I think this decision to some extent makes up for that shortcoming.

I am currently on the waitlist for Delhi NCR and was expecting a confirmation in the coming days. To be honest, I was quite excited about getting a chance to be a part of the XLRI Mafia as they call it.

However all those dreams were shattered today. We were given reassurances from the director that placements will be 100% combined. But ‘combined’ is an ambiguous word. The devil is in the details. Read the mail sent by PComm carefully. They are trying to be diplomatic and official, but read between the lines and a dark reality emerges.

We were initially promised that all companies will come to both campuses and there will be no difference. Now, PComm tells us that it is upto the companies to choose. Is it wise to choose a college not knowing what companies will even come to hire?!

Even new IIMs have placement reports from which we can know what companies come.

If placements are going to be combined, why should we have separate CVs? My friend from ISB clearly tells me there is no difference there. The mail further says the company asks for this. There is something fishy here.

There are ‘external’ stakeholders for XLRI NCR campus now. Why wasn’t this told before in the director’s reassurances?

The admin further told us they do “collective decision making” in XLRI? Is this what collective decision making looks like?

Why weren’t we given the facts before making our choice, before raising our hopes up about having the coveted XLRI tag?

I dont know why the PComm in all its infinite wisdom took so long to send this mail, but I am happy that atleast they did. It helped me confirm my suspicions. Either the admin is lying or they have no clue what is going on.

To everyone hoping to join XLRI NCR, let me make a simple point that has further shattered my belief to the core -

Forget placements for a minute. Look at the memes made on Delhi NCR campus. When the seniors themselves laugh at students about to join NCR. When seniors cant treat us equally, you really think companies will?

Don’t fall for promises or empty statements. Do your research. Just talk to current students from XLRI. Not any authorities or commitees, but regular students as I have.

NOT ONE SENIOR TOLD ME TO JOIN DELHI. ALL OF THEM TOLD ME NOT TO.

Wake up guys, it’s high time.

As someone currently on the waitlist for XLRI Delhi NCR and expecting a confirmation in the coming days, I had high hopes of getting the coveted XLRI tag.

When I went through the mail sent by PComm on this group earlier today, my dreams were shattered and I “ranted” about that a while ago on this group.
Now, I just heard a voice note circulating from the official XL converts WhatsApp group where a fellow aspirant has summarized a conversation she had with the director.

This is the final straw for me. I’m an MBA aspirant for the past 2 years and have done my research. It’s just a matter of just talking to students and alumni from colleges.

It is high time to demolish some of these ridiculous claims for the benefit of all -

1) Claim : Director has promised that consultancy companies will hire from XLRI Delhi. Fact : My senior told me that XLRI students go to Delhi every year for consulting hiring process. Director is confusing this and telling us consulting firms will hire from XLRI Delhi! Want to know a more shocking fact? BCG didn’t come to hire in XLRI Jamshedpur last year for final placements! Top consultancy firms go to top 5 institutes in the country, why will they go to a new campus like XLRI Delhi when they don’t even go to Jamshedpur every year regularly?

2) The director went on to say that be proud that you are part of the NCR campus and mention it on the CV. I wonder how this pride will work when recruiters dont consider our CVs and we are sitting in the sun without a proper job and 25 lakhs of loans! PComm’s mail today clearly says it is upto companies to hire from the campus of their choice

3) He clearly says in the voice note that he didn’t get permission from AICTE to follow ISB model. Then why pretend about common placements? My friend in ISB was randomly allocated a campus in ISB and here, even after 800+ movement of the waitlist, they are not able to fill 120 seats!!

This is not a rant from an angry student who was being sold fake dreams but a honest evaluation from someone who has decided to do some research on his own and not believe the lies that they are being fed by the powers that be.

I have decided to let go of this 'great opportunity' to join XLRI NCR as I simply believe that a college that doesnt care about the future prospects of their students is simply worth not joining!

Wish me luck guys, next stop is CAT 2020 for me!

Fellow aspirants....penning this with a request to ignore if not in tune with your convictions. Prior to taking that final call just do a self research .... and understand the implications of location endorsed on your .... during placement activities....and the subtle difference between common placement and common placement procedure. Wishing u all d best for taking an informed decision and success always. 🤣🤣
