Greetings Candidate, The School of Rural Management, Xavier University, Bhubaneswar, offers a holistic experience in the students' teaching-learning paradigm. The pedagogy includes a unique 45-day fieldwork program, the Rural Living and Learning Experience. Students are sent to different parts of the country to stay, understand, and experience the rural communities' intricacies. For 45 days, students stay there with the families and communities and work on understanding their production and livelihood systems as they capture the essence of working in the rural areas first hand. The program fosters teamwork as candidates come together with the community to discuss challenges relevant to them as future rural managers. The whole event culminates with an RLLE Mela where students have to make stalls and display the experience that they picked up over their visit to the different areas. It is a uniquely designed program where the students are sent to different locations for a period of one month, to have a first-hand experience of how sustainability is executed at the very ground level, where the sustainability frontiers lie. Students get an opportunity to discover their aptitude and attitude for implementing sustainability initiatives at the community level.
