wow pradeep!!
That profile is excellent...what is surprising is you still had the motivation to study even after 15 years of working...
Pradeep, how did you came to know about the school? Becasue a lot of us here are trying to get an idea of the repuatation of the school, placements etc. One more viewpoint will definitely help
All the best Sir.
Hi,
I just now received an email from HKU, Hong Kong regarding my admission to its MBA prorgam for the year 08-09.
My Profile:
GMAT : 710 / 4.5
TOEFL : 109/125
Work ex: 2.5 years in IT product development
Good Acads
Average extracurricular activities.
Has any Puys applied for HKU for 08 -09?
Hi rahul,
Have you confirmed your admit with HKU?
Ok, Forgive my stupidity, but is this the same as HKUST ?
or is this something completely different ?
Hi,I have 2 yrs of work-ex in IT and am aiming for Gloabl MBA. Can you throw some more light on the placements ? With my wrk-ex what average salary can be expected? I understand it depends on the candidate but a rough idea may help us finding ROI, etc.And suppose I want to come back to india after working for 3-4 years, will there be good options available or v'll have to be in China for the rest of our life?

HKU is different from HKUST
Which of them is ranked higher ?
TIA

HKUST is ranked higher. Even the FT rankings rate HKUST to be in the top 20 in the world.
However, HKU was started about 4 years back and seems to be a fast growing bschool. The curriculum is gr8 + u also get a chance to do one term in either chicago GSB or LBS (not as exchange student, but as a part of ur curriculum itself).
My personal view - Both institutes are best suited for careers in finance in the Asian market.
tusis.. have you applied to hku ?
Hi Arvind/Rahul,
Congrats for ur admit in HKU !!
I was interviewed on 8th Jan and still haven't heard from them about the decision. Did it take equally long for you too?
You must have researched quite a lot about the school now. Can you please share your views?
My profile:-
GMAT: 680 (Q 49, V 34, AWA 5.5)
Work ex: 4+ IT/Technology
acads: excellent

Sushant

hi Guys,
Since most of us have the same questions, I am posting all the info that Ashish, Rahul, abhishek and myself managed to gather in last few weeks. Currently we do not have any other info apart from this :)
1. Reputation about the school
Good School. Recognized university. growing in reputation.
2. Placements
Not so good right now. Career services is establishing new conatcts with the companies. Locals preferred. I guess all get recruited but may not get job of choice initially. People get jobs in HK, singapore, thailand etc.
3. Pay package
12-18 lakhs.
4. Need to know Mandarin. Must !
5. 10-15% Indians in the class (current class has 10 indians)
6. people from IT background also join HKU.
7. For all of us who have got admitted, the profile ranges from 610(7 yrs wrk ex) to 710 (3 yrs work ex) All had interviews.
hope this answers most of the queries 😃

I am a prospective applicant to the HKU program. ........ I can't seem to figure out the recommendation mechanism...
I have entered the e-mail addreses of the recommenders but both of them have yet to receive an e-mail.
Do they get the request after we submit our appplication or is there some other way to do it.

Hello Boyge007,
As far as I can remember, there is no online recommendation feature for HKU apps. After you submit the application, you get the link to the recommendation form, you must print that out , get it filled by your recommenders and send it to university. You can write to university and check if there i any change to this process.
Hope this helps.
Best Regards,
Ashish
