Hi!
Its important to know that S P Jain is a Business School focused on imparting management skills to its participants and not a placements agency. Placements is a joint effort between the School and participants. That said the track record of placements at our School is outstanding.
The latest cohort that graduated in end March '12 around 75% have got jobs at an average salary of Rs 16.50 lakhs. We believe that very few schools can match this. Close to 100 companies have conducted over 650 unique interviews and hence the placements process at S P Jain is both strong and robust. The list of companies include very famous names including Blackstone, Facebook, Gallup consulting, and many more.
The remaining students have all had several opportunities to interview and several more companies are still in the pipeline. Increasingly Schools follow a rolling process that gets spread over 3 months beyond graduation for a better job fitment and higher salaries. There is little benefit in rushing this and a wait of 1 - 2 months for a minority of students isn't a major issue. We are confident that the balance 25% too would get jobs soon as we continue to support them fully.
Lastly its pertinent to point out that S P Jain was ranked #1 in the world for "Placed within 3 months" and #3 in the world for "Value for Money" in the recent Financial Times Global MBA ranking. We believe that the new 3 city model that includes Sydney will further enhance the student exposure and help build the S P Jain brand in Australia.
Hi..

I just inquired from one of spjcm batch pass out.. april 2012.. he told me that placement is still not complete.. and it's going on.. around 60-70% batch is placed till now.. what is the deterring factor..? i am quite worried.. and with the tricity program.. and living cost in Australia being high.. with rupee soaring so high.. is it even worth 2 spend 25l.. ? it would be tough 4 u recover if u have taken an education loan... i think tricity program has just raised he cost...

It would be interesting to see ft rankings for next year....

Hi Rutty,
Thanks for the valuable insight but I would beg to differ with your this point in particular for the several reasons that follows:
We know that no Bschool in the country or abroad do serve the purport of being a "Placement Agency". However, it must not be forgotten that SPJAIN is an Indian brand performing on the foreign soils. So, as a mindset of the majority of students(Indian students, rather, who comprise the majority of the batch in your school), assuring a placement after graduating is of prime concern, especially when the investment is roughly(or even more) a quarter of a crore INR.

Here in India as well, all the top b-schools apart from "imparting management skills" do not assure you 100% placements but they provide you with a line of companies(via their strong networking and reputation) till all gets placed. They too are no "Placement Agencies".SpJain Mumbai to be one of them.

Cannot comment on the networking you do have but the reputation which is delivered by the current students or the alumni about SPJCM is quite not good.So in a way, the college lacks one of the major parameters - fulfilling the needs of the stakeholders(read "students" who are the stakeholders of an institute).

Now this is impressive and candid.
Having said that, we would expect that like the other top b-schools of India, SPJCM would too provide placements/companies in line till all of them gets placed. No matter how much delay it gets to publish the placement report of the passing/passed out batch, we would like to see 100% of the students get placed.Honestly.
P.S.- "It doesn't matter how long it takes to reach the pinnacle but once reached, you are always called a Winner!"

Now please do not give us this "Ranking"-thing to convince how good is SPJCM. Any other methodology or a simple and honest 100% placement report will do. Coz we all out here know how a ranking is done.By any organization.FT being no exception.

On a different note, Rutty, how have the placements for Marketing been for the latest batch? Have all of them been placed or what percentage is remaining?

hi Rutty,

When do we need to fill out and submit the application form.
Can we do it after applying for the test or do we need to do it before appearing for the SPJAT.
I am giving the SPJAT exam on May 13th.
please reply.

Thanks,
Shashank

Hii Rutty..
What is the last date for submitting applications for MGB for September 2012 batch. I will be using my CAT score.

Hi!

In order to expedite the admission process we recommend students to apply at the earliest even if they donot have an aptitude test score. If you are taking the aptitude test after applying, we map your test scores immediately to your application once the results are declared so you get a decision soon.

Hi unisol.. i am 4m IT field and wanted to pursue marketing.. so i interacted with over 3-4 marketing seniors(same background).. (none of them placed yet).. they all said.. they are giving a lot of interviews but are not getting selected into any company... if spjcm is such a good brand, why is this happening? if the students were not good enough why were they selected? rutty u said it right.. facebook or blackstone might be conducting interviews.. but how many are they taking?
and if u are talking about good salaries... then let us be very frank.. the salaries that are being offered are way below a top 100 b school standard... so u take 3 months. to offer that salary? which is better by comparison to indian b school( slightly).. but way below by international standards...

and rutty one more thing.. from insead to isb.. every1 gives u an option to study in one of the campuses or both...? so why does sp jain makes it mandatory? that 2 three campuses in one year?

and let me ask again.. plz.. why do u have a max 5 interview policy??

Hi!

The last date to apply for the September 2012 intake (MGB) is June 30, 2012. However, since the admissions are on a rolling basis, we recommend students to apply at the earliest.

Hii Rutty..
What is the last date for submitting applications for MGB for September 2012 batch. I will be using my CAT score.

Hi!

The aptitude test conducted by S P Jain is intended to test a student's IQ, mathematical ability, logic and reasoning capacity, English reading and comprehension ability. There is also a section on general knowledge. These questions are intended to test knowledge of current events and normal business awareness. The paper would be divided into different sections based on these areas. The test is for a duration of 1 hour. The test paper consists of around 40 to 45 questions The format of the test may change from time to time but the testing would be on the mentioned parameters. The aptitude test will be a paper based test. There is negative marking - different questions may have a different scale of negative marking, and this would be taken into account while calculating a student's score. We do not have sectional cut offs, we expect the overall score to meet our cut off.
You can prepare for the test by referring to study material used for CAT & GMAT preparation.

We will be having 2-3 rounds of the aptitude test for the Dec. 2012 intake. Our next aptitude test is scheduled for 13th May, details on http://www.spjain.org/gmba/aptitude_test_popup.asp
The next test date for Dec 2012 intake will be announced after 13th May.

Hi Rutty
regarding scholarship for MGB, if selected for the scholarship, what will be the amount of scholarship?

I read in some thread that the max shcolarship awarded is 2000 USD(Yes u read it right !). Yet to get an official confirmation. Would be great if someone could answer as to what the max scholarship amount is.

Hi Everyone,
I have enrolled myself for the SPJAT test to be conducted on 13 May.
Already submitted my application for Dec intake.
Lets see how the paper goes.
Surprising to see no one discussing about the test pattern.
At least a trend on how the questions are, which section to target with accuracy, level of difficulty as compared to CAT/GMAT, strategies to clear the SPJAT exam, etc.
Would be great to get some inputs from fellow puys who have already given the SPJAT once

monster796 Says
