Hi Rutty
I have been asked to come to Bombay for evaluation. I have also registered and asked for 17th September as date. However, in the call letter that was emailed to me, the evaluation date has been mentioned as 1st September. I replied back and mentioned this discrepancy and also copied [email protected]. However, no further information has been intimated in response. I request you to advice me on further action.

Hi Rutty,

I will be applying for GMBA programme in april-12. I would like to know your views on the following.

> When you say college looks for quality of work ex what do they mean..?? Can u tell me quality in what terms ??
* Would a Non-it candidate with work ex only in India be comparable with onsite ex of IT.
* Unlike in IT one needs some amount of years to lead a group of people in core field independently.
I am BE-mech with 5+ yrs of workex in construction of power plant with reliance power.
We as a team of 4 people were leading some 700 labours/ 5 contractors.

> Is doing a MBA in specialised field-say supply chain restrict my career to this field only. I am looking out for a career in operations with pref in project management/scm. I have never been directly involved in logistics but yes coordinated the flow of equipments/ material unlike many of the profiles with shipping exp.

> I was going through your form wherein i found that I need to fill up two choices of specilisation . I found thatwith all these years of workex i find scm course inline with my workex. Can I fill the same choice of scm for both ??

> Would you suggest any other course specilisation for me. CAn I apply for some specilisation say consulting even when i have no prior exp in this field. Does the choice affect the candidates chances when getting call for interview ?

> What was the typical % of total no. of students who got scholarship in last batch ?

> What are the profiles/designation/job roles offered to candidates with 5+ yrs exp ?

> Can you compare PGPM course ( 11 months ) with GMBA programme of SPjain dubai

Thanks in advance

Although how can I be rejected without getting my SPJAT results?

Hi!

I will reply to your queries in points-

  1. When we say 'quality of work experience' we are talking about your work profile to see how much of exposure you have had in your field and the knowledge and experience you have gained in that area.
  2. You do an MBA to update your knowlege and skills in a particular area. So post GMBA, recruiters would take into account your work experience prior to the course and the knowledge and skillsets you have gained in the GMBA program.
  3. The application form asks for 2 preferences for the specialisation you would like to apply for, this is to see if you can be considered for another specialisation just incase you donot qualify for your first preference. But if you have only one preference, you may leave the 2nd one blank.
  4. We normally prefer having students with the relevant background for any of our specialisations. Having said this, we do consider cases where students wish to change their background for any particular reason but in this case we see the motivation behind their career change
  5. As for scholarships, pls note they are highly competitive and are solely based on merit. Only a minuscule percentage of the earlier batch has been awarded this scholarship.

  6. The PGPM and GMBA are very different from each other and hence cannot be compared to eachother

Hello Rutty,

I have applied for the November 2011 course, I do not have a GMAT or CAT score.
I had appeared for SPJAT on September 4th, unfortunately I did not get a good enough score to get a call for the 2nd round on the 17th and 18th of September.
I have about 4+ years of experience in IT

Q: Am I eligible to be shortlisted for the October SPJAT?

Thanks in Advance.

Hello Rutty,

I received an email from SPJCM, informing me that i am eligible for the second round, pending an aptitude test, because i was not able to give you the gmat score i promised before hand. I have been called to mumbai on the 17th sept 2011, to take the test and the anticipatory interview.

Do you have a provision where i can freeze my application status, in its current state, and resume it during the very next intake, which i assume is in April 2012(if i am not mistaken) ?

Hi!

Our cut off for SPJain aptitude test is 75 percentile.

Hi Rutty,

Thanks for sharing the cutoff in terms of percentile. May I know the corresponding score. I know the score might vary in exam to exam but it will give a fair estimate when i will be writing next time
