I have an evaluation call for 31st jan. A few days back I had mailed gmba to change my specialisation from IT to SMM. But on doing some research I found out that IT Management suits my profile more hence I mailed once again to change my specialization from SMM back to IT.

Can this have an adverse effect on my chances of getting an admit ? I am a bit worried regarding this!

Hi,

Well it is not a rule but if you plan to apply for a different stream then we expect you to atleast have some background on the new specialisation that you wish to pursue - as in you should atleast have some basic knoweldge and have read up on the same

Is it necessary to have the domain knowledge for the applied stream?

Like... my background is IT but I am interested in Finance. Is it necessary that I need to have enough knowledge to compete with those who are already working in the relevant field?

I waas willing to Apply for GMBA.Following is my details
1.5 yrs of work ex in IT.
Got 87%ile in CAT08.
10th - 68%
12th -78%
B-tech-73%
Kindly guide me do a hold a chance of getting shortlisted and
Secondly can i even apply for Executive Mba .

Yes, we wouild be able to place students who have rich work experience laterally. Students are placed taking into account all factors including their work ex, axcademic history, acheivements etc. We have various companies visiting our campuses and they have requirements for multiple positions.

The waitlist is reviewed from time to time as and when need be and studnets found suitable are moved to the evaluation stage. Pls wait till end of Feb 2010 to know your final status

1.But does that mean that when the whole process for evaluation/intrvw will be completed then only the waitlisted candidates will be offered a seat???In between the waitlisted candidates are not considered??
Just to get a clear idea on the waitlisting criteria ...can u please let me know generally how many students per session who are in waitlist get a offer..i know it depends but just wanted to take a avg.

2. In my case i have 4 yrs of work ex in IT,acads are abv avg and performed reasonably well in the intrv but the drawback was my SPJAT marks(just meeting SPJ criteria)..So what are my chances of converting into a offer.

Please ans the queries, i hope u will understand the anxiety in the mind of people who are in waitlist..

Hi,

Your profile is fine except that you do not have the min erquiremetn of 2 years work ex. You cannot apply for the EMBA as that is meant only for the residents of Dubai or Singapore

This test on 13th Feb 2010 is for the April 2010 intake but the score would be valid for the Nov 2010 intake as well

I cannot comment on that as the decision on when to review the waitlist lies with the Admissions Committee - it could be periodic or it could be after the entire admissions process is complete
