Hi Rutty,

I had two questions regarding the Dec 08 intake.

1) I have heard that the placements for the Dec intake are not as good as that for the May intake. Is this true? Can you please let me know where can I find the placement records for the previous Dec/Jan Intakes.

2) For the IT specialization, the May 08 batch started in Dubai and will complete their course in Singapore. Will this hold true for those opting for IT specialization in the Dec intake.

I need some advice regarding the admission to GMBA Dec 08 intake.
My profile:
Xth: 85%
XII: 70%
B.Tech: CGPA 7.26/10
Institute: NIT (REC) Jaipur (2006)
Branch: Metallurgy and Material Science engg.
Work ex: 24 months (by june 08 end) with satyam computers as S/W engg working in Manufacturing n supply chain domain.

An average extra currics but having good performance in Job (topper of training batch), appreciations from higher management in project, student council representative in Xth and XIIth and recieved appriciation certificate during my summers project.
I want to get into Operations/Supply chain domain.
I have not written CAT/GMAT till now but planning for SPJAT for 2008 Dec intake in GLSCM.

Do i have a chance here? Any suggestions?i missed this SPJAT today due some issue at office. when will it be conducted again for the Dec 08 intake?

I gave GMAT and got 640.

I wanted to give SP JAT for a better score but did not know the dates and missed the 5th July exam.

When is the next exam going to be held ?
How many days before the exam, it is posted on the offical website ?

Hi,
1) the placements for the Dec intake are as good as the ones for the May intake. As most B schools in India have only 1 intake in May/June - most companies also recruit based on that cycle. However companies have a constant need for qualified executives and it is only a misconception in one's mind that they would preferto recruit in May over Dec

2) It has been mentioned on our website as well - that in Dec it would be reversed - IT would start in Singapore and would be completed in Dubai

One last query. Does submitting the score late (after i get the scores of 2nd spjat reduce my chance of admission, though i had applied in early june?
will the candidates be collectively called for the GD PI process(i mean starts after the deadline) ? Or has the institute started sending GD PI calls?

XII: 64.xx %
BE(Honors): 76.38%
CAT: 90.xx %ile
I also gave SpJat: 98.44 %ile

17 months of relevant experience(on ERPs) at the time of application.

Decent Extra Curriculars:
NCC-C certificate holder.
Microsoft Specialist Certification.
Organized Events at college and company level.
Published Whitepapers.


Still I was not selected for evaluation. Can you please let me know the possible reasons for my profile not being selected even after scoring high in apptitude test.
I am planning to re-apply, so i would like to work on my weaknesses. Your feedback will give me some idea as to where i am lagging, and then i can work on that and try to balance it.

Hi,

No, we do not pool all applications until the last date for submission and then call selected candidates. ours is a rolling admissions process wherein applications are screened as and how they are received.

Hi,

Well I have mentioned in my previous posts that only a high aptitude test /CAT/GMAT score does not assure you of being called for the evaluations.

The Admissions Commitee will look into your entire profile as a whole to assess whetehr you are suitable to be shortlisted or not.

your profile does seem fine but I would also like to bring to your notice that we receive applications from some outstanding candidates esp for the IT spez and hence competition for places is very high.

I cannot give you the exact reason for your not being selected last time - it could be the acads or the work ex or any otehr factor.

I suggest you may reapply as you would have some more work ex this time

Dear mam,

While filling the application form i had a doubt. The application form mentions that you need to update your GPA/percent for 1/2/3 and 4th year. But in case i have a semester wise system. Where in each year has 2 semester, do i take a average of both the semester and update it as my GPA for that particular year.

In case i had : 8.71 in 8th sem and 8.05 in 7th sem.
Do i put it as 8.38 (avg. of both sem) as my GPA for 4th year.

"However, applications will be scrutinized on a rolling basis. In other words each application will be evaluated as and when received. The chances for getting selected will therefore be higher the sooner you apply. The admissions may be closed sooner than the last date."

Now as I my GMAT scheduled on 14th August'08,so should wait till then before applying or should I apply now(as it seems that aplying early is advantageous) without the score and send my score later when i give the GMAT.

Which option would you suggest?

Can u Please tell me when should I apply for SPJAIN Dubai based Program In finance n can u please help me out around what time of the year the entrance is held for the same.
I have been through your website but couldnt get much information on the entrance period.
As my final year will get over next year in March, wats the Right time for me to apply.
What are the Chances of a fresher gettin an admission for Masters In Finance?

Hi,

Either of the options is fine as the Admissions Commitee will not shortlist candidates without a score -so in any case until you submit your GMAT score you canot be shortlisted.

August 14th is not too far and its not too late in any case as the last date for close of admissions is Oct 6th.

In my opinion you can apply once you receive your unofficial GMAT score on 14th August

Hi,

Well we require you to be a complete garduate atthe time of application. Which means you should have your result in hand at the time you apply.
Hence the earliest intake that you can apply for would be Dec 09.

However we do not run Masters in Finace programmes. Wht we have is a GMBA with super specializations in Finance.

While we do prefer students with work ex we are also willing to consider freshers who are outstanding

Dear Shweta,

I am Ashish, i am working with a US based Retail chain. I have done a Three Years Diploma in Footwear Technology and i am also a graduate from delhi university, though i have done my graduation through correspodence, as my main course was Footwear Technology.

I work as a buyer for the retail chain and my work is to work on the range and than buy shoes globally. I travel china and buy shoes from there.

From starting i am average in studies.
In 10 th - 54%
12 th - 54 %
Three Diploma - 80 %
Graduation in B.Com - 41 %

I am giving my GMAT on 5 august, please advice is there any chance of me to get admission in ur dubai/singapore GMBA Course or not. I am very keen to do my MBA , so i am really confused what should i do and where should i try for an MBA. Currently i am doing good in my carrer and getting a package of 4 lakh but i feel its really important to do an MBA for future prospects.

Please advice me if i work hard on my GMAT Score , is there chance for me to get admission.

When i login using the link:http://www.spjain.org/evaluation_login, i get the following message:

"Thank you for the interest shown in S P Jain, Dubai-Singapores GMBA (December 2008 intake) program. You are presently in the evaluation stage of our admission process. Once an evaluation date is firmed up by us, you would be getting a call for evaluation e-mail giving full details of when your evaluation has been scheduled for. If you do not get the same within a reasonable period of time, we suggest that you mail us on [email protected]. Post your evaluation, we suggest you check this link to check on the result of the evaluation process. It would take us 2-3 weeks post your evaluations to update the site with your status."

Does this mean, i am shortlisted for the GD/PI stage, and only the dates for this evaluation is pending?
or
am i looking for the status in any of the wrong links?

Hi,

There have been instances in the past where, if the Admissions Commitee so decides, we have interviewed candidates over the phone if they are situated abroad and are unable to come down to any of our campuses

However that can only happen if you are shortlisted for evaluations and if the Admissions Commitee decides to interview you via telephone
