I had called SP Jain Dubai and they said that now two years work experience is compulsary and that freshers are only taken if they have an exceptional cat/gmat and a great academic record.. Is this true? i have already mentioned in my previous post about my achievements and results..
How do i fair..???
Hi,
I cannot give you specific reasons as to why you were not shortlisted - it could be any of the factors from acads ( ideally a first class ALL through incl ALL yrs of graduation), work ex, extra curiculars etc
Like ive mentioned before you need not take the GMAT as your CAT score is fine.
yes we do look at the profile of the candidate in relation to the stream applied for.
Thanks
SHweta
Hi Ma'am,
Thanks for your reply. I have few more questions to ask.
I had applied tp S.P. Jain May 2008 intake - Investment Banking course with the same CAT percentile (89.31%) but could not manage a call..
I will briefly describe my profile ..
I have a score of 89.31% in CAT 2007.
I am a B.Tech having 2 yrs of work exp in HCL.
10th - 80.6%, 12th - 68.8%, B.Tech - 70.92%.
ECA include- Chess Second Delhi State Champion, represented Nationals as well, other prizes related to Chess, First prize in inter-college painting competition, etc.
Own a small boutique of paintings, a small step towards entrepreneurship.
I am keen in joining S.P Jain Dubai/ Singapore GMBA course for December intake 2008. Can you please answer the below queries. It will be a great help for me to evaluate my profile and work towards making it stronger.
- Can you please suggest what lacks in my profile?
- Will having a high GMAT score add weightage to my profile ?
- Is specialization dependent on the profile? (My first preference is Marketing and then IT)
Waiting for your response.
Thanks,
Priyanka
Hi,
Yes we do prefer candidates to have work ex although we are willing to consider freshers who are outstanding.
I cannot comment on your profile as that is the decision of the Admissions COmmitee
THanks
Shweta

Your CAT score is fine as it meets our cut off
Your profile is fine to apply - I cannot comment on your chances as that is the decision of the admissions Commitee

Hi,
I had applied for the Dec2007 intake - specializaiton GLSCM and received a call. But due to unavoidable circumstance i cudn't attend the interview.
Now, I am planning to apply for dec2008 intake.
My profile:
I have 2.5 years of IT experience. UG - B.E mechanical.(CGPA:8.67)
X - 85.36% and XII - 91.2%
CAT - 86% , ECA: pretty decent,
Also have published International Journal paper.
Last year the Minimum Eligiblity criteria for CAT was 80%. Is it the same this year also? Or do i need to take SPJAT?
Also, please let me know whether my IT background will be at a disadvantage for applying GLSCM... as I could find mostly people with Mech-experience in the current batch...
Hi,
yes the cut off for CAT would be 80%ile for the Dec 08 intake as well. As you CAT score is fine you need not take the SPJAT (provided it is a CAT 06 or 07 score as we are not accepting scores prior to that)
Your IT background would not be a disadvantage while applying for the GLSCM stream
Thanks
Shweta

Hi,
I had applied for the JUN2008 intake but was waitlisted initially and finally didn't get a call.
Now, I am planning to apply for Dec2008 intake--specialization SMM.
My profile:
I have 2.5 years of IT experience.
UG - B.E (74.5%)
X - 93% and XII - 81%
SPJAT FEB'08--78% ,
ECA/professional achievment : pretty decent,
I would like to know if I need to appear for the SPJAT again or the Feb'08 score is valid and 78% is enough to get a call.
Hi,
The quality of both programs is the same. However, the Dubai-Singapore program being a one-year program is more rigorous. Apart from a three week break during the year, there are no holidays. The specializations in both programs are different. In terms of the number of classroom hours, the Dubai-Singapore program will have 900 hours; that is about the same as our two-year program in Mumbai.
The Admission criteria has been clearly mentioned on our website.
Thanks
SHweta

Hi,
As for the validity - your SPJAT score would be valid as we will accept scores of 08.
As for your score - it is a little below our cut off of 80. You may retake the test if you wish to improve your scores.
THanks
SHweta

Hi Shweta,
Thanks for the reply. But in the website its mentioned that the SPJAT cutoff is 75. Please clarify on this and also let us know if there is weightage given to the test score or the test score(cut off) is just the eligibility criteria.
Hi,
This year , it appears though, that the admission process for Dec intake has taken-off pretty early - as the website mentions the admissions should commence by May26.
So, when can we expect the first shortlist of candidates - eligible for interview, to be rolled out?
Last year, the admission process commenced somewhere in mid-june, i suppose, and the first round of interview started on Sep 1.
Now that , the admission has commenced pretty early, can we expect the shortlist to be out earlier than usual, as also the Interview dates?
