For a candidate to be selected at a junior management position in a company, he must
be a Mechanical Engineer or have a diloma from ITI with at least 60% marks.
have secured at least 60% marks in the selection test.
have scored at least 50% marks in the interview.
be not less than 23 years of age and not more than 30 years of age on 1.10.2012.
have completed course on CFM.
If the candidate satisfies all conditions expect C, but has cleared the course of NCFM, his/her case should be referred to the HR head.
If the candidate satisfies all conditions expect D, but has two years of work experience in the mechanical industry, his/her case should be referred to the General Manager.
Based on the above information, decide the course of action.
Mark option:
(1) If the candidate is to be selected
(2) If the candidate is to be rejected
(3) If the case to be referred to the General Manager.
(4) If the case to be referred to the HR head
Akshay got 62% marks in the selection test and scored 51% in the interview. He has an ITI diploma with 65% marks. His date of birth is 23rd September 1982. He has completed his course on CFM and has 3.5 years of work experience in company XYZ, which is one of the biggest mechanical companies of the country. He has also cleared the course of NCFM.

If the speed of the boat in still water is doubled, then the trip from A to B and back again would take 20% of the original time . The ratio of the actual sped of motorboat to the speed of river is?a (3/2)^1/2 b (3^1/2)/3 c 2/3 d 3/2
Let speed of boat b and speed of river r.
t=d/b+r + d/b-r
0.2t=d/2b+r + d/2b-r
Divide both the equations:
b/r=(2/3)^1/2 .Hence option a

1/a=1/3 * (1/b + 1/c)
1/b =1/6 * (1/a +1/c)
Solving both the equations:
17c=4b
Also 1/a+1/b+1/c=1
1/3*(4/17c + 1/c) + 4/17c + 1/c =1

Shld be 1..
(1+x)/(1 + _/(1+x)) + (1-x)/(1 - _/(1-x))
=>(1+x)(1 - _/(1+x))/(1 - (1 +x)) + (1-x)(1 + _/(1-x))/(1 - (1-x))..[Rationalizing]
=> (1+x)(1 - _/(1+x))/(-x) + (1-x)(1 + _/(1-x))/(x)
=>1/x*[(1+x)(1 - _/(1+x)) + (1-x)(1 + _/(1-x))]
=>1/x*[(1-x) + (1-x)^(3/2) - (1+x) - (1+x)^(3/2)]
=>1/x*[(1-x)^(3/2) - (1+x)^(3/2) - 2x]
=>2/(_/3)[ 1- (_/3)/2]^(3/2) - (1 + (_/3)/2)^(3/2)] - 2

Hi Puys.
I am stuck at this. Please help
How many integer values of x and y are such that 4x + 7y =3.
while |x|
I resolved till
x = -8, -15, -22 ....
y = 5,8,13,......
How to calculate the number of numbers !!????????????????

And AP will be formed for x with Common Difference = - 7 and 7.
For y, AP will be formed with CD = 4 or - 4.
X will be the limiting factor, its CD being higher.
1. When x = + ive.
x = [ 6, 13, ... , 496 ] => 71 Terms.
2. When x = - ive.
x = [ -1, -8, ... -498 ] => 72 Terms.
So, Total = 71 + 72 = 143 terms.

you should get
x=...-8,-1,6,13,20...
y=...-3,1,5,9....
so clearly the common difference of x is greater and there will be lesser total values possible for x. clearly the question states |x| -500>xfirst consider the negative half of the number line
x=-1,-8,-15,-22...
its an A.P with C.D=7 also we know that 70*7=490 so there wil be min 70 numbers. but 497 is also possible as well as 1(because the A.P starts from 7 in the case considered) so totally there are 72 terms
Now consider the positive half of the number line
x=6,13,20... here again you can see that the C.D is 7 also from the general A.P this A.P has each term-1 so like above you will get a min of 70 terms but in this A.P the 70th term wil be 489. so you can see there can be one more term so totally 71 terms
Hence a total of 143 terms. Is the answer right?

Answer is 144. Your concept is right ! you might have missed one number somewhere! Thanks

Nope. 143 it should be. :|

you can substitute 1 in the equation as (3^1/2)/2 ~= 1.
you wil get
((1+1)/(1+(2)^1/2))+((1-1)/(1-(2)^1/2))
2/1+(2)^1/2
rationalizing
2*(1-(2)^1/2)/(1)^2-(2^1/2)^2
2-2(2^1/2)/-1
~= 2.828-2=.828 this is close to 1. hence answer should be D
you wil get
((1+1)/(1+(2)^1/2))+((1-1)/(1-(2)^1/2))
2/1+(2)^1/2
rationalizing
2*(1-(2)^1/2)/(1)^2-(2^1/2)^2
2-2(2^1/2)/-1
~= 2.828-2=.828 this is close to 1. hence answer should be D
In a no. system the product of 44 and 11 has been written as 1034.The no. 3111 of this system ,when converted to decimal no. system will become? (Ref:CAT-2001)

Shld be 406..
(44)n= 4n + 4.. (11)n = n + 1... (1034)n = n^3 + 3n + 4
=>(4n + 4)(n + 1) = n^3 + 3n + 4
=>4n^2 + 4n + 4n + 4 = n^3 + 3n + 4
=>n^2 - 4n - 5= 0
=>(n + 1)(n - 5) = 0
=>n=5..Dismissing, n=-1..
Thus, (3111)n = 3*5^3 + 1*5^2 + 1*5 + 1= 406..

(1034)n = n^3 + 3n + 4 this part is not clear....i dont think it is correct as you cannot write 1034 in this form
