A person sells 20 kg s at 400 .A customer asks for 20 % discount and he agrees to it,but instead of 1 kg he gives 4 % less.what is the effective discount that the customer gets?thanks in advance
1 kg 20rs
after 20% discount
1 kg 16rs
he gets 960grms for 16rs SP

1000 gm 20rs
960grms 20*24/25=96/5rs CP

19.2-16/19.2 =3.2/19.2 =2/12 =1/6 =16.67%??

MP= 400
after 20% discount = 320

But he gives 4% less , total given = 20- 20% of 20 = 19.2 kg

for 19.2 he gets 320
for 20 kg , 320 * 20/19.2 = 2000/6 = SP

discount =( 400-2000/6 )/400 * 100 = 16.66%

sp of 20kg = 320
But he gets 96% of 20kg=19.2Kg

19.2Kg =>320
20Kg => (320/19.2)*20=320*(100/96)=333.33

So he gets 66.67 Rs discount on 400
% discount= (66.67/400)*100=16.667%
abc is a three digit number and xy is a two digit number such that product of abc and xy is same as product of cba and yx,if x and y can be similar digits,then number of pairs of abc and xy is-
a 99
b 900
c 810
d cbd

Ans : c
for this: both a and c have to be same and a,c not equal to 0 as it is a 3 digit number.
so number of choices for a,c = 9
number of choices fro b=10 (as it can be 0 also)
so number of combinations for abc=9*10=90
similarly,for xy, x and y can't be 0 and number of options 9

Hence,total number of pairs=9*90=810

(100a + 10b +c) (10x+y) = (100c+ 10b+ a)(10y +x);

if x=y
(99a-99c)11x=0
x cnt be 0..
and xy can be 11 .. 22 .. till 99 = 9 no.
a = c , we got 90 such 3 digit nos..
total pairs.. 90*9= 810

aplly chinesre rmndr theorem
let this num is N and 45=9*5
N=9x+1 or N=5y+4
9x+1=5y+4
x=2 and y=3 solve the equation
number is of the form 5y+4 so answer is 19

bhai chnisere rem theorem laga le
45=9*5
so number is equal to 9x+1 or 5y+4
9x+1=5y+4 so x=2 y=3 solving these
so number is 19

haha kewl , but quotient is still a puzzle

on checking we find that n=12 also satisfies this condition but n=13 does not. So n=12 is the answer here and not n=11

How do you check using Euler's Theorem?

@dragster said:
by the way not just of the form 5y + 4 , but must satisfy x also for an integer value , for eg 14 wont satify.. u'll have to check whether it satifies 9x + 1 also.. otherwise it be a non integer..by sumin up no.s check for 9.. els leav it
sice both x and y are satisfyin two equations and giving same values so whats the prblm yar

sai hai.. u checked for 9 also.

(5) N is a (n + 1) digit positive integer which is in the form anan - 1an - 2 . . . a2a1a0, where ai (i = 0, 1, 2, . . ., n) are digits and an0, thus N = an 10n + an-1 10n - 1+ . . . + a1 10 + a0, where 0 ai 9 and an0. We define F (N) = (an + 1) (an - 1 + 1) . . . (a1 + 1) (a0 + 1) For Example F(3407) = (3 + 1) (4 + 1) (0 + 1) (7 + 1) = 160. Identify the number of two digit numbers such that F(N) = N + 1.a. 9b. 1c. 6

1083.
yar explain krio

let a = xN+4
a/3= yN=29 ;
solve u get N(3y-x)= 83
since x>y , N*any number - N*any other no. , must be a mutliple of N ( x n y can be 2 , 1 or 5 , 2 n so on...)
, and 83 is a prime no , u get N= 83..
1st such nearby no = 1000 , next 1083.
