@sujamait Aap toh bura maan gaye..ye lo question..Each root of the equation ax3 – 7x2 + cx + 231 = 0 is an integer. One of the roots is -1/2 times the sum of the other two roots. What is the sum of all the possible values of a?(a) 17 (b) –7 (c) –17 (d) None of these
p,q,r are roots => p = (-1/2) ( q + r) => p + q + r = -p ...(1)
Sum of roots = 7/a => -p = 7/a
p is an integer => a = 1,-1,7,-7 => p = -7,7, -1, 1 respectively
q + r = -2p => q + r = 14, -14, 2, -2
Now, pqr = -231/a => qr = 33
=> (q,r) = (11,3)/(-11,-3) =>p = -1/1 are rejected => a = 7/-7 are rejected
If 'a' is one of the roots of x^5 – 1 = 0 and a ≠ 1, then what is the value of a^15 + a^16 + a^17 +.......a^50?1) 12) 5a3) 354) NOTPlease explain with approach
a)1....? since a^5=1, given expr can be written as 7*(1+a+a^2+a^3+.a^4)+1 =7*{(a^5-1)/(a-1)} + 1 = 1
If 'a' is one of the roots of x^5 – 1 = 0 and a ≠ 1, then what is the value of a^15 + a^16 + a^17 +.......a^50?1) 12) 5a3) 354) NOTPlease explain with approach

x^5 - 1 = (x -1)(x^4 + x^3 + x^2 + x + 1)
a ≠ 1 => a satisfies a^4 + a^3 + a^2 + a + 1 = 0 and a^5 = 1
no proper method....i assumed ki OA and OB together form 1 side and OC is perpendicular to this line...so area= 0.5*30*7 = 105...i wasn't sure whether this is max or not...thats y asked for options(if nt correct)
What if OA and OC form one side and OB is perpendicular? Value will become 165 I guess? Should be possible to get even more than that.
Need answer choices for this.....someone please provide? Edit: 192 tak aa raha hai...but can't prove it is maximum...not sure if I am making some mistake?

A teacher asked a student to add nine two digit number such that each number is tem more than previous number. But the student has all the numbers, which are formed by interchanging the digits of each of the given number. Surprisingly, the sum he got was the same as the teacher had asked for. Find the differnce of the digits in the least of the numbers the student was asked for to add?

If you observe you'll find that the reverse of digits are consecutive numbers..
In any case average of the nine numbers will be in the fifties.. So the reverse numbers should be in fifties..
@SarayuSheshadri yaar In any case average of the nine numbers will be in the fifties.... seems logical but how will this thing help in derving the answer?

consider my consecutive numbers are 31, 32, 33,..,39 average is 35..
But my average is in the fifties..
So only possible value can be 55..
Now if 55 is the average of my numbers 51 was the reverse of the first number..
