a plane is ruled with parallel straight lines at equal distance of 2a..... a needle, 2l long (l

is thrown on the plane at random....find the probab. that d needle will hit any of the lines....

There is a railway line in East-West direction. Three railway stationsβ€”A, B and C are on the railway line, with A being towards west and C being towards east and B between A and C. Ram is standing to the south of B railway station at a distance of √3 km. He is 2 km away from A station and 2√3 km away from C station. A train travelling eastward is approaching A station.

The speed of train and Ram are such that if Ram had walked at his normal speed, he would have just caught the train either at A or C. However Ram decides to walk up north towards B station and board the train there. On reaching B station, he realizes that the train does not halt there. Therefore he decides to walk towards C station. As he is on his way to C, he receives a call from his brother saying that the train has just left A and he should better run lest he would miss the train.

How fast should Ram run as a percentage of his normal walking speed in order to just catch train at C? For this purpose, halting time of the train at A, time spent by Ram at B and time spent for the phone call may be considered negligible.

(a) 73.2% faster

(b) 100% faster

(c) 86.6% faster

(d) No change needed

Ques : The first n natural numbers, 1 to n, have to be arranged in a row from left to right. The n numbers are arranged such that there are an odd number of numbers between any two even numbers as well as between any two odd numbers. If the number of ways in which this can be done is 72, then find the value of n.

if [a] denotes the sum of m real positive nos. and [b] denotes the sum of n positive real numbers as given below(where [x] denotes the greatest integer function less than equal to x ) :

[a] = [s1] +[s2] + [s3] + [s4] + ..... [sm] + 4 ;

[b] = [t1] + [t2] + [t3] + [t4] + ..... [tn] + 3 ;

then what can be the min. possible value of [a] + [b] ?

Out of 100 people in office. 50 walk to work, 55 take the bus, 66 take train. 9 use to take all three of those. Number of people who walk and take train but do not take bus is 4/3 times number of people who train and bus but do not walk.

Q. What could be minimum number of people who would not take train or bus.
