Official Quant thread for CAT 2013

Mr. David manufactures and sells a single product at a fixed price in a niche market. The selling price of each unit is Rs. 30. On the other hand, the cost, in rupees, of producing 'x' units is 240 + bx + cx2, where 'b' and 'c' are some constants. Mr. David noticed that doubling the daily production from 20 to 40 units increases the daily production cost by 200/3%. However, an increase in daily production from 40 to 60 units results in an increase of only 50% in the daily production cost. Assume that demand is unlimited and that Mr. David can sell as much as he can produce. His objective is to maximize the profit. What is the maximum daily profit, in rupees, that Mr. David can realize from his business? 😃👍

A school having 270 students provides facilities for playing four games – Cricket, Football, Tennis and Badminton. There are a few students in the school who do not play any of the four games. It is known that for every student in the school who plays at least N games, there are two students who play at least (N – 1) games, for N = 2, 3 and 4. If the number of students who play all the four games is equal to the number of students who play none, then how many students in the school play exactly two of the four games?

A vessel contains milk and water in the ratio 3:2 The volume of the contents is increased by 50%. by adding extra water.From this resultant solution 30L is withdrawn and replaced with water. The resultant ratio is 3:7 Find original volume of solution.

Check whether this is correct...

Initially volume is 3x+2x = 5x
After increasing volume by 50% by adding water only water will added up
Volume = 3x+4.5x = 7.5x OR 2:3

(When volume becomes 3/2 Conc becomes 2/3) -- Till here its correct
