The rate of consumption of electricity by a metro train varies as the square of its speed (in km/hr). Consumption of electricity is 1000 kw/hour when the speed of the metro train is 40 km/hr. All other costs to run the metro train is Rs. 12 per hour. If the cost of electricity is Rs. 15 per 100 kw-hour, then of the following which is the speed at which the train can run such that the total cost of running the train per kilometer is Rs. 7.65?

answer is 80

can somebody please solve this ?

There is a water tank of capacity 1,000 L with two inlet pipes A and B that can pump in water at the rate of 50 L/hr and 25 L/hr respectively. An outlet pipe C attached to the tank can pump out water at the rate of 50Initially the tank is full and the outlet pipe is opened. Now when the water in the tank is (3/4)

th

of the maximum volume of water that it can hold, both the inlet pipes are opened until the tank becomes full after which they are closed back. This process is repeated for an infinite number of times. How many hours after the start is the tank (4/5)th full ?

a. 4 hr

b. 7 hr

c. 12 hr

d. Both (a) and (b)

A worker starts a job. On the first day, he does 1 unit of work. On the second day, he does 2 units of work. Every day from the third day, he does 2 units of work more than that on the previous day. Starting from the second day, a worker joins every day and all the workers working on a day do the same amount of work. The work gets completed at the end of the Mth day. If the job is [8 M (M + 1) + 1] units, find M.

Two boats start towards each other, from the two points exactly opposite of each other on the opposite banks of a river, simultaneously. They meet at a distance of 410 m from one of the banks and continue sailing further till they reach the opposite banks. They take rest for 1 hr each and start off the return journey taking the same route. Now they meet at a distance of 230 m from the other bank. Find the distance between the two banks. (Assume that river water is still.)

a. 750 m b. 840 m c. 1100 m d. 1000 m

Ram and Shyam are quizmasters. The time taken by Ram to make a question is double of that taken by Shyam. If Ram made 3/2 questions less each hour and Shyam made 3 questions less each hour, the time taken by Shyam to make x questions would be 2y hours less than that taken by Ram. If Shyam takes y hours to make x questions, find the number of questions that Shyam can make per hour.

A REAL test contains 3 sections: QA, VA and DI. A student taking the test has to attempt at least one section. When the data of test takers was assimilated, it showed that 74% of students attempted QA, 91% attempted VA and 77% attempted DI section. What could be the minimum percentage of students who attempted all the three-sections?

Twenty taps, numbered from 1 to 20, are fitted to a tank. On the xth day, for all x, where 1 £ x £ 20, the taps numbered from x to 20 are opened for x minutes. The tank is filled in 20 days. The capacity of the tank is C litres. Find C, if the xth tap (for all x), fills the tank at x litres/minute.

For an annual function of a school, the stage is to be decorated by garlands. The school teacher divided the students into five teams - A, B, C, D and E, with no two teams having the same number of students and all the teams worked for the same duration. We know the following additional information about them.(i) The efficiencies of making garlands of all the students is the same. Team C did not make the least number of garlands.(ii) The number of students in team E was one more than that in team C. Team B has less number of girls than C.(iii) Team D has more girls than team E and team B has more number of students than exactly three teams.(iv) The number of teams with less number of girls than C is one more than the number of teams which made more number of garlands than B.(v) The team which made the highest number of garlands has the second least number of girls.

1. Which team made the highest number of garlands?
2.
Which team has the second highest number of girls?
