in the time minute hand moves 60 mins, hour hand covers an effective distance of 5 mins..
So, in the time min hand moves 120 + y mins, hour hand will move 10 + y/12 mins..
Now let 10 + y/12 + y = 60
==> y = 50 * 12/13
distance moved by hour hand ==> 10 + y/12 where 2 is effective distance of 2 hrs..
y/12 = 50 / 13
distance of 1 hr for hour hand = distance of 5 mins for min hand
distance of 50/13 mins = 10/13 hr
So ans 2 10/13 🍻

A unit square is drawn in the Cartesian plane with vertices at (0,0),(0,1),(1,0),(1,1). Two points P,Qare chosen uniformly at random, P from the boundary of the square and Q from the interior of the square. The line L1 through P and Q is drawn. The probability that the points (0,0) and (1,1) are both on the same side of L1 can be expressed as a/b where a and b are coprime positive integers. What is the value of a+b?
Great Northern Airlines flies small planes in northern Canada and Alaska. Their largest plane can seat 16 passengers seated in 8 rows of 2. On a certain flight flown on this plane, they have 12 passengers and one large piece of equipment to transport. The equipment is so large that it requires two seats in the same row. The computer randomly assigns seats to the 12 passengers (no 2 passengers will have the same seat), The probability that there are two seats in the same row available for the equipment can be expressed as a/b, where a and b are coprime positive integers. What is the value of a+b?
Hi,
A, B, C, D, E, F, G and H are eight employees of an organization working in three departments viz. Personnel, Administration and Marketing with not more than three of them in any department. Each of them has a different choice of sports from football, cricket, volleyball, badminton, lawn tennis, basketball, hockey and table tennis not necessarily in the same order. D works in Administration and does not like either football or cricket. F works in Personnel with only A who likes table tennis. Eand H do not work in the same department as D. C likes hockey and does not work in marketing. G does not work in administration and does not like either cricket or badminton. One of those who work in administration likes football. The one who likes volleyball works in personnel. None of those who work in administration likes either badminton or lawn tennis. H does not like cricket.
1.Which of the following groups of employees work in Administration department ? (1) EGH (2) AF (3) BCD (4) BGD (5) Data inadequate
2. In which department does E work ? (1) Personnel (2) Marketing (3) Administration (4) Data inadequate (5) None of these
3.Which of the following combinations of employee-department-favourite sport is correct? (1) E – Administration – Cricket (2) F – Personnel – Lawn Tennis (3) H – Marketing – Lawn Tennis (4) B – Administration – Table Tennis (5) None of these
4.What is E's favourite sport ? (1) Cricket (2) Badminton (3) Basketball (4) Lawn Tennis (5) None of these
5.What is G's favourite sport ? (1) Cricket (2) Badminton (3) Basketball (4) Lawn Tennis (5) None of these"
Can anyone tell me how to approach these types of problems? I mean is there any thread for this?
Thanks in advance. 😃
A point P is uniformly chosen inside a regular hexagon of side length 3. For each side of the hexagon a line is drawn from P to the point on that side which is closest to P. The probability that the sum of the lengths of these segments is less than or equal to 9√3 can be expressed as a/b where aand b are coprime positive integers. What is the value of a+b?
