@vbhvgupta
well intuitively i would mark, 991/19, if its there in the answer......
the logic i used is, for an increase of 1 in the denominator the numerator increases by the same proportion if you add 1 to the hundreds place..ideally you should avoid increasing either the tens or units place digits,as then the denominator increases by a greater % than the num, and hence value of entire fraction decreases, but since this question mandates that the 1st 2 digits be identical, 990, would be the number.....and since its indivisible by 10, 991.
@vbhvgupta said:the sum of the present ages of a mother and her daughter is 60 years When the mother attains her husband's present age, the ratio of her husband's age and her daughter's age would be 2:1 . FInd the present age of the daughter.
m+d=60
{h+[h-m]}/{d+[h-m]}=2/1..=>2h-m=2d+2h-2m=>m=2d
d=20..
@next_big_thing said:@[email protected]@[email protected]) Please please try & solve 1 last question from the same paper---->An escalator is moving at 3 steps/second. Harish walks in the same direction as a moving escalator at 2 steps/second, takes 3 seconds less to get out of the escalator than when he was moving on the stationary escalator. How many steps are there in the stationary escalator??16, 10, 25, 20, data insufficient.2) In the previous question that u solved, while finding the area of the parking lot, all of u have considered the 48min side & (90-36)min side [i.e. the 60% decrease]. Can u plz explain y you considered (90-36) & NOT 36 only??
sorry bro i had some shots wasnt sobber , doing it now
let steps be x
x/2 - x/(2+3)=3
x/2-x/5=3
x=10

my approach without any inclusion exclusion principle
_3_3_
a+b+c=2 = 4c2=6
1.) a 2 b 2 c 3 d 3 e here d and b has to b 1 , no other combination --1
2) a 3 b 2 c 2 d 3 e here c has to be 1-----4 combinations
3) a 3 b 3 c 2 d 2 e here b and d has to be 1---- 1 combination
4) a 2 b 3 c 2 d 3 e here a+b+c+d+e=2 6c2-5=10 combination
5) a 3 b 2 c 3 d 2 e here 10 combination
6) a 2 b 3 c 3 d 2 e here c has to be 1 ---- 4 combinations
1+4+1+10+10+4=30
@scrabbler bhai see my method and give ur valuable inputs :)
@scrabbler said:Seems to be 20. But I am getting husband's age indeterminate Edited to add equations:Let husband be y and wife x and daughter 60 –x When wife reaches husband's age, y-x years have passed so their ages must be 2y-x, y and 60 +y -2x.So 2y – x = 2[60+y-2x] => y cancels, giving x as 40. So daughter is 20.regardsscrabbler
bro why do you need a equation here? what i did was since the mother+daughter age is 60 and now mother is of the same age as father and the ratio of f:d is 2:1 so it has to be 40:20.
hence daughter is 20yrs.
P.S acc to the question the mother is acquiring the present age of father so effectively you can consider the child to be of the same age

4) a 2 b 3 c 2 d 3 e here a+b+c+d+e=2 6c2-5=10 combination
sir, why this 5 hangs here? pls elaborate :)
@iLoveTorres said:sir, why this 5 hangs here? pls elaborate
m no sir brother just a mortal like all of us :)
look their as a+b+c+d+e=2 so 6c2
but now as two 1s cannot be together so subtract all the solutions where a,b,c,d,e is 2
that will be 5 so 6c2-5 :)

@rkshtsurana thanl you bhai par radius ka length do diya hai nahi just because woh pythagoras triplet ban raha hai is liye radius chote circle ki radius 4 assume kar diye kya? thanks once again

ha jab 3 tangent ki half length hgyi ..usi se 4 radius chote ka n 5 bade ka jo hypotenuse hga

Have already done the same 😃 Read my post fully - the second half is this only, just combined 2 at a time.

No, when mother's age increases, so does daughter's. And so does father's. But yes, that is more efficient
