5
a square and the point of intersection of diagnols
@Subhashdec2 but if the fifth point is the intersection of diagnols then it should also be perpendicular , then only it will satisfy the condition..

On selling a pen at 5% loss and a book at 15 % gain , Karim gains rs 7. If he sells the pen at 5 % gain and the book at 10% gian then he gains 13 rs. the actual price of the book is??

sahi he kya?
(0.95cp+1.15cb)-(cp+cb)=7
(1.05 cp+1.10 cb)-(cp+cb)=13
solving cb=80
@pakkapagal thanks...its right

i have a problem if u could look up to it...

If n is the largest possible value of points in a plane that any three of them can form a right triangle then what is the value of n?
Q. Point X is randomly selected on the perimeter of a square of length L. M is the midpoint of side . whats the probability that XM> L
A. root 3 /3
B. (3 - (root)3)/3
C. (3 - (root)3)/4
D. (1+(root)3)/4

OA is C. Plz let me know the process

4 points
in a square ....
if 5 points then a right triangle cant be formed along three points of diagonal

@psk.becks i also think so..... thanks for confirming me..

ravi6389
i am getting d .
i solved for XM
p = 1-(1+_/3)/4 = (3-_/3)/4

@psk.becks me getting b.... wat approach did u solve it from?????

DivineSeeker
ill upload a pic...

@psk.becks could u plz elaborate it?
@psk.becks thanks

DivineSeeker

@psk.becks Can u tell ur approach.. i am getting a weird 5 / 12

ravi6389
check the figure
for the point to lie such that xm>l it must be in the region AFED.
now AM= L DM=L AD = L
AMD= 60 degre
find the length AB and CD ..
Subtract the length ABCD from 4l.
divide by 4l....

@psk.becks Nice one man..but i have my doubts in the way i solved them..right now i am unable to post it ...Will do it tomm and then tag u. Plz let me know as to where did i go wrong. BTW Amazing solution man. Kudos :)
