30 : 7 ?how can we approach this orally ?
orally karna hai toh consider there is 15*14=210 units totally
So the milk from first mixture will have 8*14=112
milk from the second mixture will have 5*15=75.
But milk should originally have been 210/2=105
First mixture has 112-105=7
Second mixture has 105-75=30
Hence the ratios should be inversed to get the correct combination hence 30:7

OA: 30:7 That's right. Tell me where am I wrong ( Must be fundamentally wrong somewhere )Mix-1: Milk = 8ml, Water = 7 mlMix-2: Milk = 5ml, Water = 9mlRatio: k:18k + 5 / (5k + 9) = 1from here, k = 4Hence ratio = 4:1You can also check it by putting the value of "k" Please tell me where am I going wrong.@abhishek.2011 Tum b dekho bhai..

Yes it is so much more efficient than alligation, especially if you hate fractions :D

First one is divided into 8 + 7 = 15 parts, second in 5 + 9 = 14 parts. So take 210 (LCM of 14 and 15) parts. Now milk in first solution is 14 x 8 = 112, second is 15 x 5 = 75 and we need 1:1 i.e. 105 out of 210 parts milk. So see the difference of 112 and 75 from 105 - they are 7 and 30 so reverse this and voila, 30:7 is the ratio required. regardsscrabbler
YES! meine pehli baar orally kiya woh bhi aapke hi method mein 😛 mission accomplished

Yes it's absolutely flawless agreed! Please have a look at following thing:
Forget the question for sometime:

Mix-1 : Milk = 8ml and Water = 7ml ( Ratio = 8:7)
Mix 2: Milk = 5ml and Water = 9ml (Ratio = 5:9)

Mix these 2 in 4:1

Milk = 37 and Water = 37
Ratio = 1:1

Ab idhar to kuch galat ni h, but it satisfies the question perfectly.. ??

Hence ratio = 15k : 14 = 60 : 14 = 30 : 7

(The way you have taken them total volumes are not k and 1, instead they are 15k and 14)

Correct hai...but what you forgot is that the mix-1 ka 1 unit is 15 ml and mix 2 ka 1 unit is 14 ml...you are asked ratio of quantity na...

So mixing 4 : 1 means 15 * 4 : 14 *1 = 60:14 = 30:7....

A similar question to the one posted previously:
A test consists of 4 sections. Eac section has a maximumof 45 marks. Find the number of way in which a student can qualify the test if the qualifying marks is 90.
1) 36546
2) 6296
3) 64906
4) None of these

Q1
Assume initial cost = 100 (for simplicity)

600 articles = 40% profit means selling at 140
so 630 articles, 5% more, is 140 + 7 = 147. So profit 47%?

Rupee 1 for 1 Kg
Selling price per kg = x
Loss = 20x = 100 - 100x
=> x = 100/120 = 5/6

Sold 100Kg for 250/3 = 83.33..
