Are taking to RHS or LHS in a fraction is nothing but multiplying that thing on both sides..So if you nultiply "x" on both sides then sign changes for -ve x

Let t hr be the time required to fill the tank by 3rd Pipe alone..Hence, Time required by 2nd pipe alone is (t + 4) hr.. n Time required by 1st pipe alone is (t +9) hr..
Given, t = (1)/1/[(t +4) + (t+ 9)]
=>2t^2 + 13t = t^2 + 13t + 36
=>t= 6 hrs..
Hence, Time required by 1st Pipe alone is 6+9 = 15 hrs..
