[Official] Quant Thread for 2015!

what is the smallest number 3067 must be multiplied so that product is the perfect cube ?

Please clarify this doubt.

Suppose we have to find the number if ways, the sum obtained when 3 dices are rolled simultaneously, is say 12..Then the following is right or not:

a+b+c=12

a,b,c>=1

Hence, a'+b'+c'=9

=> 5-a' + 5-b' + 5-c' =9 => a'+b'+c'=6

So no. of solutions 8c2 giving 28. Anything wrong with this?

A allows the discount of 20% and sells it to B .then B sells it to C allowing the discount of 5% .C paid 38 rs . find the profit made by B ??

Answer is rs6 but how??

One guy did like this --->

mrp = 100
d=20%==>80= cp of B
5% d==> sp of B= cp of C=95
95________95-80=15 profit
38_______38*15/95=6 rs

But if we do by conventional method, we get MP = 50rs and 2rs as profit..!

Two cars move simultaneously from points A and  B towards each other.The speeds of two cars are 20 m/s and 25 m/s respectively.Find the meeting point if d(AB) =900 km.

(distance ratio = 4/5)

How to get this mathematically:The answer says the meeting  point will be 400 km from A and 500 km from B)

Hello there,

HELP.. HELP..HELP..!!

Need some serious advice . I am not able to uplift my mock scores, they are still lying in the range of 70-80's. On analysing I am seeing following issues.

1)Accuracy is lacking in Verbal part(its as low as 55% sometime)

2)There are many Quant problem which I am able to solve after mocks but get stuck while solving in mock.

3)The mistakes I am doing are mostly silly ones in Quant.

4)The accuracy in RC is low even in mocks ,while practicing i am able to do with an accuracy of 70-75% in 10-12 Min.

5)In LR DI I am trying "SOME OF ALL" rather than "ALL OF SOME".but thats not contributing much  to my score.

Please help,I badly need to get into 100's asap.

Thanks in advance.

Do we have to consider that the train will take time t after the accident to reach the destination with the  original speed and it will  take t+20 with the new speed?

A train meets with an accident and moves at 3/4 of it's original speed .Due to this ,it is 20 minutes late.Find the original time for the journey beyond the point of accident.

ANS:speed becomes 3/4 (time becomes 4/3)

extra time = 1/3 of normal time = 20 minutes

normal time  = 60 minutes

what is the process to reach BOLD step?
