Maths:Geometry: A right angle triangle with hypotenuse 10 inches and other two sides of variable length is rotated about its longest side thus giving rise to a solid. What is the maximum possible area of such a solid?

This is the first question in the 'Worked out Problems' in Quantitative Aptitude by Arun Sharma in the Geometry section.

I am not able to understand the solution.
It seems that the volume has been calculated in the end and not the area as asked in the question. ...Or am I missing something?
