Two non-decreasing sequences of nonnegative integers have different first terms. Each sequence has the property that each term beginning with the third is the sum of the previous two terms, and the seventh term of each sequence is N. What is the smallest possible value of N ?

Bernardo chooses a three-digit positive integer N and writes both its base-5 and base-6 representations on a blackboard. Later LeRoy sees the two numbers Bernardo has written. Treating the two numbers as base-10 integers, he adds them to obtain an integer S . For example, if N=749, Bernardo writes the numbers 10,444 and 3,245, and LeRoy obtains the sum S=13689 . For how many choices of  N are the two rightmost digits of S, in order, the same as those of 2N?

a.5 b.10 c.15 d.20 e.25

Kindly explain the approach for solving this question:

S= 1*2+2*2^2+3*2^3+4*2^4+....+20*2^20. If S is divided by 19, the remainder will be:

A)0 B)2 C) 9 D) 18

TG's great grandfather had many children. His oldest son was a twin. All his children were twins except for 41 of them. All his children were triplets except for 41 of them. And to make matter worse, all his children were quadruplets except for 41 of them. How many children did TG's great grandfather have? (You cannot count quadruplets as triplets etc.)

On their way to a conference, six writers- a short-story writer, a historian, a humorist, a novelist, a playwright and a poet- meet in a train. They are seated opposite one another, three on each side. Each writer has a different speciality. Their names are A, B, C, D, E and F, but not necessarily in that order. Each writer has brought along one of his own books and given it to a colleague to read, so each one is deep in a book given by one of the others. The following facts are known:

  • A is reading a collection of short stories. He is seated in a corner, and has no interest in history.
  • B is seated between the author of short stories and the humorist, and he is the brother-in-law of the novelist.
  • C is reading the book written by the person seated opposite him.
  • D is reading a play, and he is seated opposite the novelist.
  • The writer of short stories is seated opposite the historian.
  • E is seated next to the playwright, and he is reading a humorous book.
  • F detests reading poems.
