Major Accreditions and Recognitions of LBSIM:- Lal Bahadur Shastri Institute of Management is a coveted member of the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB, USA) since 2014. National Board of Accreditation (NBA) has accredited PGDM (General) and PGDM (Finance) programs for a period of 3 years (2016-2019). Since the minimum requirement to get NBA accreditation is 5 years of existence, our new programs are yet to be accredited for the same. These 2 programs are at par, both in the terms of the academic inputs and industry acceptance as well. In the recent survey done by the outreach team, more than 200 organizations/companies have shown keen interest in hiring students from our two new programs. International Accreditation Organization (IAO), USA, has accredited PGDM (General), PGDM(Finance), PGDM (Part Time), PGDM (Working Executives) and MCA programs for a period of 5 years (2015-2020). The Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi has recognized the Two Year Full-Time PGDM (General) and PGDM (Finance) as equivalent to MBA Degree of any Indian University.

Lal Bahadur Shastri Institute of Management organized the inaugural session of Corporate Conclave 2018 on Saturday, 13th October 2018 on the theme: "Technology, Finance, Analytics, and Entrepreneurship: Making India ready for Industry 4.0"

The inaugural session started with the lightening of the lamp by Dr. G L Sharma along with various other guests and dignitaries. 

This was followed by the welcome address given by Dr. D.K. Srivastava, Director of the Institute who emphasized the importance of journey of Industry 4.0 and the inaugural of a conference that cuts across all functional conferences organized by the Institute. 

Mr. Monu Ratra commenced the session by talking about the penetration of data analytics into various sectors of the economy.  He stated how reset of a mindset is required to enter into Industry 4.0. Constant innovation increases competition and someone who is open to ideas will be the future leader.

The session was carried on by Mr. Amit Agnihotri who stated the importance of being human in future because of constant replenishment of humans by the advent of technology. He talked about industries that would be affected due to automation by 2025 and skills required to be successful by 2020 as per the world economic forum.  He ended the session by saying "Technology is only trying to replicate humans so our job is not to be overtaken by machines."


Mr. Yogesh Rao talked about big data and high-performance analytics and key entrepreneurial challenges being growth, cost efficiency, and increased compliance. The analytics-driven digital economy is the new solution and highlighted the importance of credit decision-making. He talked about the theory of everything and the theory of relativity. 

He ended the session by quoting: " Data refineries beyond humans will be needed very soon."

The second spell of the corporate conclave was a technical session wherein Mr Aakashdeep Chakraborty talked about the importance of data collection and protection. He started his talk with an interactive session with the students and thereby explained the core system integration in logistics. He also talked about how the 4th industrial revolution will increase efficiency for the public at large only when distortion in terms of leakage and usage of data has to be taken care of. He encouraged data mining to reduce cost and maximise efficiency.


He was followed by Mr Sanjeev Misra who talked about the use of data analytics in credit risk modelling in the banking and financial sector. Finance and banking is the only industry where they have to market their raw material as well. He also stated differences in human decisions and software decisions that create a problem in arriving at desired results. He talked about the future of the banking industry of 2030 and the use of data analytics in banks.


Mr Omveer moved to the dais to talk about the innovations in delivering education through technology. He also talked about the importance of bridging the digital divide which is essential for integrating the rural and digital ecosystem. The prime objective of industry 4.0 is to revive Indian manufacturing ecosystem by making tangible improvements in efficiency, safety, profitability and performance while minimizing environmental impact.


He was followed by Mr Vineet Kaler who introduced his session on "The Development of Financial Services through Technology". He talked about the innovations that took place in the commodity exchange market for better connectivity in a single market across the nation. He compared India with the global market where India stands largest in equity followed by forex, debt and commodity at the end whereas on the contrary forex stands first on the global market and equity stands last.


The session ended with a vote of thanks from Ms. Shivani Bali wherein she appreciated efforts of all the dignitaries present in the auditorium and applauded them by citing various instances from their presentations. She also appreciated the students for their patience and support throughout the session.

Corporate Conclave 2k18

The second spell of the Corporate Conclave 2018 commenced with a Technical Session wherein Dr. Loveneesh Chanana, Vice President, Digital Government, SAP India Private Ltd. Discussed about Industry 4.0 and how it has different perspective and identity for different people. According to him, it is not a revolutionary but an evolutionary one. What differentiates this revolution from others is the factor “us’’, as we become a part of the product in this. He also talked about enterprise challenges amidst digital disruption.

Following him, we had Shri Mohit Massey, Director, SME Globex, who focussed on innovation by technology and how that can lead to job creation in the economy and elaborated on the innovation for small and medium enterprises.

The last speaker for the day, Shri Mani Madhukar, IBM talked about the Blockchain technology and its future effects to make India ready for the upcoming Industry Revolution 4.0.The session ended with a vote of thanks from Prof.Anuj Verma and a small token of appreciation handed to the speaker's in gratitude for gracing us with their presence and sharing their thoughts and experience with the faculty and students.

 INDUCTION & ORIENTATION 

The induction programme for PGDM and PGDM (Finance) was organized on 15th and 18th June,2018 and on 2nd July,2018 for PGDM (Research & Business Analytics and Logistics & Supply Chain Management) at LBSIM, New Delhi. 

Dr. U.D.Choubey-Director General of Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE) was invited as the chief guest for the occasion. Mr. P.K. Jain, Chairman, Safexpress Pvt. Ltd. was invited as the Chief Guest and Mr. Vivek Vashishtha, Executive Director and Country leader Government and Regulatory affairs India and South Asia, IBM was the guest of honour for the induction programme of the two newly launched courses of the institute. 

The programme commenced with garlanding & floral tribute to Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Ji’s statue in the Institute. The students were welcomed by Dr. D.K. Srivastava, Director, LBSIM. Dr. U.D.Choubey gave the inaugural address. 

Post the welcome and inaugural address, the students were made aware about academics, infrastructural facilities, evaluation system, disciplinary committee, examination rules, and Anti-Ragging Protocol. The session marked an end with the amazing video of Life@LBSIM and motivating speech by Dr. Anupriya Singh.

The next day of the induction programme included introduction of Corporate Interface Activities, Placement Activities, Management Grid and Student Clubs, Media & Communication Cell, and Alumni Foundation activities. The session concluded with a motivational movie screened for the students. 

The two-day long induction session was followed by a four-day extensive orientation programme, held from 19th June,2018 to 22nd June, 2018 to acquaint the new students with the diverse subject areas like Economics, Accounting, and Quantitative Methods. Apart from that, other sessions on Self-development, Leadership, Facilitating Relationships and Yoga: Transforming Body & Mind were also conducted. 

GUEST LECTURE- The Talent Appreciation Center, LBSIM organised a two-day workshop with Mr. Kanti Gopal, founder and CEO at Institution Builders on 5th-6th July, 2018 which focused more upon the resume building laying an emphasis upon the strength and weaknesses and the achievements of the students. CULT NIGHT Yet another chapter in the #MBADiaries of LBSIM, CultTeam- LBSIM organised the CUlt night to introduce the various cultural clubs to the students and give students a break from the regular schedule. With the thrilling and super rejuvenating performances by the mellifluous " Mantra", the rapturing " Razzmatazz - The dance club of LBSIM" the awe-inspiring " Abhivyakti - The Dramatics Society of LBSIM",the versatile " Vogue -The Fashion Society of LBSIM", and fun moments with seniors, here are glimpses of the Cult night you would always want to preserve.

 A day to remind us that the truth may take its own time but eventually  triumphs over evil. Dussehra continues to remain a testimony of how  righteousness conquered viciousness.

SOCIAL IMMERSION PROGRAMME

Students of Lal Bahadur Shastri Institute of Management had the privilege of being a part of this year's prestigious Social Immersion Programme being conducted in association with the National Skill Development Corporation(NSDC) from 3rd of August to the 13th of August.

Over 500 students were a part of 37 projects under the aegis of the National Skill Development Corporation whereby they studied and analysed varied sectors of the Indian economy and society spread across 18 states of the country. Faculty of LBSIM, officials of NSDC and local partners mentored these projects.

This came as a part of our endeavour to create socially sensitive leaders by exposing them to sectors of the society and economy otherwise missed by regular management education.

RURAL IMMERSION PROGRAMME ----------------------------------- 34 students from our Institute moved towards Jhabua District, Madhya Pradesh for an intensive Rural Immersion Programme organized in association with Shivganga Jhabua (a non-governmental organization working towards building youth leadership for social change across the country). The group visited 6 villages, assess the condition of education and health infrastructure, Mid-day meal scheme, NREGA, Jan Dhan Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana, public distribution centers and interacted with all stakeholders that form the rural ecosystem including members of the Panchayat, Tehsildar and the District Magistrate of Jhabua. It was led by Dr. Gaurav Joshi, Assitant Professor (Sr.) in the Area of Marketing.

Lal Bahadur Shastri Institute of Management, Delhi has been successfully running the MCA (3 Year) and MCA-LE programmes from the year 2001 under the affiliation of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU), Delhi. 

The orientation welcomed the students and was graced by the presence of eminent guests namely Dr. BVR Reddy (Dean School of Engineering and Technology, Professor of University School of Information and communication Technology, GGSIPU) and Mr. Akshay Bhargava (Head Programme Management Office for TCS and Government Industry Solutions Unit)

The guest speakers gave an exposure to the latest IT trends and upcoming technologies giving them tips on how to gain expertise in achieving their pursuits.

The students were also introduced to the rich culture of LBSIM and a glimpse of how their life is going to be here.
