Can you guys tell me how did you got your GDPI centres in your respective cities? I filled the application form today which had only 3 centre preferences of centre- Ghaziabaad,Nagpur and hyderabad. Please suggest,how did you got centres in various cities??? An early reply will be of great help.
Hello Puys, this is my first ever post on Pagal Guy and it is about my first ever experience of GD-PI for an MBA college . .Date - 18th February, 2013. Center - IMT, Ghaziabad. Slot - 13:30 HRS Cat percentile - 84.59 XII marks - 71.00 X marks - 79.71 Graduation - 82.25 Work Ex - 16 months in TCS. Extra Curricular Activities : None worth mentioning.
GD Topic - Case Study- As increasing Women crime rate in India. Two theories are emerging. One is that a more liberal use of arms should be made. So every girl should be given a gun for her protection. But on the other hand a different theory states that this will allow more crime scenes in the society. Which one is right? First of all, I would request you all to be in time. I reached just before time and registration was almost complete. Candidates who reached late were not allowed to register and thus had to go back home. Make sure you reach on time (Reporting time mentioned in your mail). In my group, there were 13 people. To my surprise almost every guy wore a suit and a tie. There was only one more guy other than me who came in simple formals, a trouser and a shirt. Frankly speaking I feel getting dressed properly does boost your confidence in a way. We entered the room and sat on the seat which was allotted to us. Then one of the gentlemen briefed us about the procedure (Same as you have seen in previous posts). I would request you not to shout as they do give negative marks for shouting. Unfortunately our group made it a fish market and the panelists had to give 10-15 seconds to every one to speak about their opinions.
PI - This was taken by the same people who were present for the GD process. I had three interviewers. 2 gentlemen (M1 & M2) and a lady (L). One of the gentlemen was little aged and the other one who was sitting among the two looked really smart and experienced. The lady wore a beautiful smile all throughout my interview. M1,M2 & L1 : Mr. Akshay, please come in. Me : Thank You, May I have a seat. M1, M2 & L1 : Yes Please. L : Spoke about my name (Akshay Kumar). Asked me how it feels to share a name that of a celebrity. Me : Dealing . . M1 : From where do you belong ? Me : I belong to Punjab and settled in Dehradun. M1 : Asked about my family background. M1 : So you work in TCS. L : Tell me the name of the chairman of Tata Sons. Me : Cyrus Mistry. L : Can you tell me why he chose only him and not any one else. Me : I really do not know that. M2 : Its ok. L : Spoke about my hobbies. M2 : Tell me why you want to do an MBA ? Me : Ultimate Dealing. M2 : We would choose you only if you are really interested or else there would be no point in wasting your parents money, time etc. Me : I am really interested that is why I am doing all this. M2 : We saw in GD, you really wanted to give some points, but people were not allowing you to speak. Me : Mentioned the point I wanted to put in GD. ( I have heard of many incidents of molesting women which take place in public places like metro station, there we are not allowed to possess guns/ other arms, so I would suggest women should be given training in martial arts & self defense instead.) They discussed about one incident among themselves. L : One of your hobby is "Bollywood Analysis", and other says "Modelling", you seem to be more interested towards the GLAMOUR WORLD. Then why MBA ? Me : I did a number of fashion shows in my college (showed certificates), a ramp walk or a fashion show is a lot more than just GLAMOUR, it helps you to learn how to perform in a team. Winning a fashion show is more than glamour, it also needs punctuality, discipline and hard work. The compatibility with your team members on stage is really important, and you tend to make mistakes because of the loud music, disco lights and people cheering you. I guess all these qualities would help me in some way to be a good manager in future. I am amazed by the fact that even when whole nation is suffering through recession, companies are not gaining profits, still bollywood movies are managing earning hundreds of crores, this amazes me. M2 : (Smiles) In recession people have lot of time to spare and they spend it by watching movies. (Everyone smiled and was a nice atmosphere in the room) M2 : You have any questions from us. Me : I do not. M1,M2 and L : Okay, you may leave now. (As I stood up) M2 : Do you bend while walking ? Me : Yes a bit. M2 : What is your height ? Me : 6.2 L : You are a super man. You should not bend. And then M2 and L smiled (not sure about M1's reactions though ) And then my interview got over. Grade your PI on scale of 5 - 3.5 ( I should have managed to answer about Cyrus Mistry, I felt ashamed of not knowing that. Other than that I really felt nice after I left the room.)
