SimCAT - 1 (2014)

This is my first mock after giving this year's xat. The overall paper was difficult. My scores are below

QA - 30 - 98.48 😠
VA - 28 - 91.55 😠
OA - 58 - 97.57 😠

Could have easily scored more than 70.

Can anyone please explain the simplest solution for 3rd question in simcat 1(Proct):


Given that a1, a2, a3...an is the sequence of real nos. where an+1 + an-1 = an+ 2^n for n>1. If a1=5, a2=100 then a100= c+ 2^d where c and d are constants. find value of c+ d.


I am unable to understand the solution provided in the explanations.

QA- 35 (still a bit rusty, need more practice)

VA - 55 (Decent score)

OA - 90
