[Official] IFMR GSB - Premier Business School in India _ MBA Admission 2026-28: Placements, Fees, Selection Process, Eligibility & More

Reading placement reports is exhausting. Everyone claims 100% placement. Can someone tell me what the median fresher reality is at IFMR?

Yes, please let me know

Although the majority of the batch are freshers, the average work experience is around 19.2 months, so 2.5 years of work-ex is quite normal. IFMR values prior experience in academics and placements, so you won’t be at a disadvantage.

Placement reports can be exhausting, but at IFMR the numbers are quite real. The latest report shows a median CTC of 11.5 LPA and a mean of 12.04 LPA, which aligns well with what actually happens on campus. Freshers get roles across finance, BFSI, consulting and analytics. Overall, the placement committee and corporate relations and career services team at college ensures that the numbers are transparent & realistic, not just “100% placement” headlines.

Could someone provide insights into the latest placement statistics for MBA graduates?

I was expecting call from IFMR at 222 NMAT. But did not receive any call.

Is ifmr even worth attempting? I have spoken to a few current students. Campus is good but overall feed back was decent.

Real talk. how many from your batch actually got core finance roles vs generic sales/banking ops? I want honest numbers, not brochure hype

See, honestly, IFMR is worth attempting but with the right expectations. The campus and infrastructure are genuinely good, and academically it’s quite rigorous, across domains. If you’re looking for strong fundamentals, decent placements, and you’re ready to put in the work rather than depending only on the brand name, it’s definitely worth it. It’s one of those options you can confidently go ahead with if it aligns with what you’re looking for.

The placement data is shared transparently in the official report, with a clear sector-wise split. If someone is placed in a sales role, it is reflected under Marketing & Sales, not under Finance.
For the MBA 2023–25 batch:
• 60% were placed in BFSI
• 18% in Marketing & Sales
• 13% in General Management
• 9% in Others
The BFSI segment includes roles in risk, credit, treasury, business valuation, financial advisory, portfolio management, etc.
These figures are directly from the published placement report.
I’m attaching the previous year’s placement report for your reference

Shortlisting at IFMR is based on the defined eligibility criteria rather than the competitive exam score alone. As per the eligibility requirements, candidates must have a minimum of 60% in Class 10, Class 12, and Graduation. If a candidate does not meet this minimum requirement at any stage of their academic journey, they may not be considered for shortlisting. This could be one of the reasons for not receiving the interview call.

Trying to convince myself that two focused years > constant distractions. Leaning IFMR.

As per previous year’s placement report, IFMR GSB recorded an average CTC of ₹12.04 LPA, a median of ₹11.5 LPA, and a highest package of ₹21.32 LPA, with near 100% of eligible students placed across BFSI, marketing, consulting, IT, and analytics roles.

For the current batch, the placement season is still in progress. Detailed and verified statistics will be shared once the interim placement report is officially released.

Negative review trend I keep hearing: Placement data is fraud and roles are mostly sales. Anyone here feel that’s exaggerated? Or real?

IFMR placements this year compared to GLIM/TAPMI

Can someone share their interview transcript?

As per the previous year’s official placement report, IFMR GSB achieved an average CTC of ₹12.04 LPA, a median of ₹11.5 LPA, and a highest package of ₹21.32 LPA, with nearly 100% of eligible students placed across domains such as BFSI, marketing, consulting, IT, and analytics.
For the current batch, the placement process is still ongoing, and the verified statistics will be released through the official interim placement report once it is published.
With respect to comparisons with institutes like GLIM or TAPMI, it would not be appropriate to comment on the placement data of other colleges. The most reliable way to evaluate would be to refer to each institute’s officially published placement reports and make an informed comparison accordingly.
The previous year placement report is available above in an answer to one of the similar queries.

As a current student of IFMR, I can say the placement reports are published transparently without inflation, even with slightly dipped metrics this year due to tough market conditions, the numbers were presented as it is. Sales roles are present but not the majority; the role mix is quite diverse across finance, risk, consulting, analytics, banking, product, and operations, depending on individual preparation and specialization. I’m also attaching the placement report for your reference and further clarity.Placement Report

This is just for reference and I’m currently in my first year
It started with tell me about yourself
What is BEP
What is EOQ
Accrual accounting
What do you understand by indirect taxes?
Asked me if i read the news, i said yes so they asked me if i knew about the Trump Gold Card (this was trending this time around last year) so we spoke about that
what is the difference between a stock and a bond
Asked me what other calls i had and my order of preference (I was honest about the order)
Asked me if i have ever been to Chennai and how I plan to manage to live far away from my home
Finally i was asked if i had any questions for them and that was it
But still I would say that interviews can vary person to person

If I am a working professional what is the career growth that I can expect after completiong of the programme?
